Fresh Cranberry Relish Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!! Thought I would share my favorite cranberry sauce/relish recipe. It is uncooked and so delicious!! My family always insists I bring this on Thanksgiving. It is delicious on Turkey. Try the Jello recipe, too. Soooo good! We always have both the relish and the Jello on Thanksgiving. Nancy’s Fresh Cranberry Relish 1 pkg fresh cranberries 1 large orange 1 large apple 1 cup sugar 1 Tbsp grated orange peel Grind cranberries (I usually freeze them first), orange, and apple. (Just throw them in the food processor to grind). Add sugar and grated orange peel. Stir in well. Let sit in fridge overnight. This is great on Turkey !! For yummy Jello use the above relish in cranberry or lemon flavor Jello. I also add pecans, chopped celery, crushed pineapple and chopped apples. Green tart apples are best. If you are making it with unflavored gelatin use cranberry lemonade for the water. I double the cranberry relish recipe above to add to 8 cups of Jello. |
I LOVE this recipe! We always have it too - in fact I just made it!!! I make it with Splenda instead of sugar (my hubby has diabetes) and no one even knows (shhhhh, it's my secret)!!! |

I just finished mine, too! Splenda is a good idea. I can't use it, though, because it makes me start itching. Oh, I forgot to say that in the Jello I also add some crushed pineapple. I am waiting for DH to get home with the crushed pineapple so I can finish the Jello. |
That sounds REALLY good. I am going to save this and try it at Christmas. I love when people share their favorite recipes. People who say it is a secret irritate me to NO END. :D |

Yummy! Your version looks good! A friend of mine makes a similar version that I plan on getting her exact recipe for, but in the meantime, I found this one at recipezaar that seems similar to hers. I made it earlier today to take to my in-laws tomorrow.... Holiday Best Cranberry Jello Salad Recipe 1 cup finely chopped celery 1 (16 ounce) package raw cranberries 1 orange, rind of 1 cup sugar 6 ounces raspberry Jell-O gelatin (orange or cranberry Jello will work) 2 cups boiling water 1 cup orange juice 1/2 cup chopped pecans or chopped walnuts 1. Bring water to a boil. 2. Add hot water to a med-large tempered bowl along with the orange juice and jello flavoring packets and disssolve thoroughly. 3. Chill until syrupy (30-40 mins)in a 9 x 9 or 9 X 13 dish (the only slight difference will be the depth of salad). 4. Chop celery finely in Food Processor, remove to a small dish and set aside. 5. Peel rind close to the zest. 6. Grind rind and cranberries in food processor until chopped ever so thinly (I remember when we chopped all by hand!). 7. Add sugar and mix with cranberry mixture. I stir right into food processor for one less dish. 8. When jello is syrupy, add cranberry mixture, nuts and finely chopped celery, mixing well in your dish. 9. Or you can transfer into a mold. 10. Refrigerate until firm (several hours). |
