Out of Dishwasher Soap
 
I ran out of dishwasher soap. Is it okay to use a little of regular dish soap? I just did, will it be okay?? I probably should have asked first HUH??:rolleyes:

I don't know if it will do any damage, but I know that regular dish soap foams up too much for the dishwasher.

here's how you fix the sea of bubbles

Scoop out as many of the suds as you can.
Turn your dishwasher’s knob (if it’s the old-school kind that has one) to the end of the last part of the cycle. It should be fairly straightforward to find the point where it actually starts draining the water. Usually this is right after the rinse cycle.
Once it’s empty, turn it all the way around to the rinse cycle, and let it rinse then drain 3 or 4 times. The first time or two, monitor things so that the suds don’t get out of control. If you did the vinegar and salt thing, it shouldn’t be a problem.
After about the 4th mini-cycle, you’re probably safe to do a regular load again to clean the dishes that are coated in dish soap. Again, monitor things, since the residue of dish soap on the dishes could cause a flare up of bubbles.
If you noticed dish soap bubbles, yet one more cycle might be in order to get the dishes clean

Depending on how long ago...you turned the dishwater on...you may have your answer by now. And a nice clean kitchen floor too. :p

Btw, don't try clothes degergent ever either. Trust me on this.

It's been about 10 mins or so, I keep opening and checking for bubbles. I don't see any, I put very little in. I am hoping, that it stays that way. I should be okay , right? Since it's been that long????

I did it once and suds came FLOWING out of the bottom. It was a disaster but hilarious!

I've actually done that at work ,prior to where I live now,I never had a dishwasher. I put liquid dish soap in my (work) dish washer,and it was out of control!!!!! SUDS everywhere!!!! If (and i don't know how they figured this out)you put Tang (THAT ORANGE DRINK STUFF) in there it works to kill the suds,. Someone with too much time on their hands full ,obviously...figured this out. I now know the deal. NEVER USE LIQUID SOAP IN A DISHWASHER!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

My son did that and it took forever to get all the suds out, he went through lots of boxes of salt. If you could press cancel and drain, before you get too many suds, it might help.

My daughter did that once and we had the same thing happen. I was ready to kill her, but it was just too funny! There were suds everywhere!

I still don't see any bubbles. I didn't fill up the little cup thing in it, I just put a little in there. So I think I might be okay since there's no bubbles by now. My kids we're really looking forward to the sea of bubbles:rolleyes:

That is not a fun task to clean up after. My dad has done this several times thinking each time he put just enough to work without the bubbles. Well, he put too much every time. Bubbles were all over the hardwood floors.

OMG.. do not do it. My husband once just CLEANED the bottom of our dishwasher with regular dish washing soap and then the next time we did dishes... BUBBLES!!! I'm talking Lucillle Ball Comedy Show kitchen full of bubbles......

I hope ... that you did ok ...??? Did you pull a Lucy on us?
