I am so thankful to have good neighbors! I wanted to post a feel-good thread today, so I wanted to tell you about my neighbors. My neighbor lady has been having a lot of pain for a while, and it turns out she is going to have a hysterectomy. She asked me to go with her to schedule her surgery, etc, since I had one 2 years ago, so I did. Her ovary is swelled up so that it is larger than her uterus  So the doctor recommended she have surgery immediately. She is scheduled for Tuesday. Her mother came in from out of town this weekend, to clean her house and to cook her WHOLE THANKSGIVING MEAL to be freezed and thawed out on Wednesday. They invited us iver last night, and we had drinks and I brought an fruit tray and dip, and we really enjoyed visting with them. Every time we got up to leave, her mother insisted we stay, since she said she would be "up all night" anyway....we finally broke free at 1 AM. This morning at 7, my doorbell rang, and there stood her mother with a 3 layer caramel cake! My husband had mentioned how much he loved the cake she made at Easter, so she made us this huge cake. She hugged me and told me how much she appreciated us looking out for her Daughter and Grandaughter when they have been sick (we have had to rush daughter to ER for asthma twice in the past 2 months) How sweet is that??? |
Oh I forgot to mention Husband immediately cut off a HUNK of cake, poured a 32 oz cup of milk, ate it and went back to bed. :p |
thats very sweet. It is nice that you have such nice neighbors. And its very nice of you to be there for them when they need it! I love these threads :) |
Thanks--You know, there are so many times we call each other to say, girl, you saved my butt tonight! Because I will cook and send over enough for them to eat, or vice versa. It seems like she always does it on one of my "blah" days when I was going to tell husband it was a "fend for yourself" night---he hates those nights :p |
That is so fantastic that you have such great neighbors. Makes like so much more pleasant. Please tell her that i will keep her in my thoughts and prayers as she goes in for surgery. |
Thank You, I will. She is having the laproscopic one, so it will be easier for her to recover. I had to have the full abdominal due to never having children. I told her she is lucky in that respect, but surgery is just always scary. I took her shopping for lots of loose gowns & slipper socks, etc. I tried to remember what felt best during that time... |
Well, to be honest, my first thought was she came over at 7 in the morning on a Sunday?! :p |
That's nice to have such great neighbors. And that's very nice of you to help her and her family out in a scary situation like this one. :) |

I think she wanted to bring it over here her self before they left to go back home...they had a 3 hr. drive and I am sure she was wanting to get home so she could be rested for work tomorrow, |
That is so sweet. Sounds like you are both great neighbors and what a wondeful Mom. Thanks for sharing |
It sounds like you're a wonderful neighbor yourself. :) |

Yep i agree sounds like your both great neighbors! |
She made it thru with no complications...and is already eating and drinking...which I told her was a good thing...they got kind of upset at me for not drinking anything LOL. Thanks for everyones prayers & well wishes! |
How sweet of you to take care of your neighbors and how very sweet of mom to bring over the cake...even if it was at 7. I like your husband's idea ~ Eat a big slice, drink it down with milk and go back to bed! I think I may have done the same...in the same order! |
