Sinus Infection AGAIN!! Grrrrr I'm soooo miserable!!!!! I've had two sinus surgeries, and still having terrible sinus problems. I've had sinus surgery in 98 and this year. I'm beginning to think antibotics don't work anymore. I have the neti pot, but don't do it that often. That stuff goes down my throat and then it hurts. lol Any suggestions. I'm on antibotics again. Have been since thurs. Still green crap. I have asthma so it makes it so worse. I've been having attacks on top of everything. Its gotten in my chest a little too. Hopefully I get peace soon!!!! I'm at my wits end!!!!!! |
So sorry to hear your feeling sick again. I don't have any suggestions but a big hug! |
Start using the Neti Pot daily, twice a day if need be!! Once you get the hang of it, it isn't bad at all and it really does help. The trick is to really hang your head forward and you have to keep your mouth open and not swallow while you're doing it. I hope you feel better soon!!! |
Antibiotics never seem to work for me so I no longer use them for sinus infections. I'm a firm believer in the less antibiotics the better. One trick my allergist told me is to use a small amount of Bacitracin, which is basically a topical antibiotic, in each nostril. Also, keep up with the nasal irrigation it really helps and do it twice at least twice a day until your infection is gone. I don't use the Neti pot, I just dissolve about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water and use a bulb syringe (like the type they use on babies) and gently squeeze the solution into each nostril twice while leaning over the sink. I never get any down my throat. Maybe this method would work better for you. |

tilt your head just right & it won't go down your throat. :p (i watched You Tubes of people doing it so I got it right.. lol) |
My MIL is on her 4th round of antibiotics for her sinus infection -- and I find it kind of scary. I mean, what is WITH all of these resistant sinus infections, you know? I hope someone is culturing them for antiobiotic-resistance. I've never had one but have heard they are just miserable :(!!! I hope you find something that works - I too have heard great things about the NetiPot. |
Denise, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this again. It's that time of year. My allergies were so bad in the spring and I was having a constant sinus infection so I went to a ENT Dr (he took out the Grand D's tonsils) and he started me using a baby bulb syringe and saline solution to rinse my sinus'. No more sinus infections and allergy season was great. I also had a plugged duct on the right side and had to have that dialated in the office several times. That was causing alot of the pain and pressure. I hope you're feeling better soon. Hugs. |
Denise.. I know what you are going thru.. I have had 4 sinus surgeries.. I finally got a good Ears Nose Throat Specialist. he put me on antibiotics and Salt spray with Antibiotics.. it WorKED! I couldn't believe it. The salt spray and he gave me an tube of antibiotics that I had to take a little bit and put it with some of the salt spray and melt it in the microwave.. mix it well.. then put it back in the spray bottle.. mix well.. I am totally sold on it. Ask your doctor about it. |
As I told you before, check around your area for someone who does acupuncture! I'm not kidding you...it's the only thing that works for me...2 times and it's totally cleared up! I feel so bad you're so miserable. Sending get well wishes and lots fo hugs! |
