My cousin needs prayers My cousin was diagnosed with familial medullary thyroid cancer when she was 6. She had her thyroid removed and has been fine ever since. She is 30 now, and is married. She has 2 sons, age 8 and 10 from a previous marriage, and has been trying to concieve for a couple of years now. This was her first month of fertility pills (clomid) and she had high hopes for a pregnancy. Her urine tests came back negative, but she had a blood test done yesterday. As much as I HOPE she is pregnant, I do not think she is unfortunately. She just got a call from her childrens pediatrician, and the blood test that she had done months ago on her boys came back and they both have the gene for the cancer she had, could have cancer, and need surgery. She went through a messy divorce with their abusive dad years ago and did not have insurance to get the testing done. Now she feels terrible. On top of that, she should be getting a call any minute from her fertility doctor that I fear is going to tell her that she is not pregnant. I have a child with a genetic disorder and one with a heart problem, so I know the pain and fear associated with health issues in children. I also was on fertility pills for 7 months before dh and I had our first child. I cannot imagine having the news of no baby, and both of the children being sick, all on the same day. :( |
So sorry she has to go through all this. I hope everything works out for her. She will be in my thoughts. |
Oh my gosh...I feel ashamed that I was thinking my day was rough. I will say a LOT of prayers for her & her family. |
That is so sad. I will be praying for her and her family. |
I will keep your cousin and her sons in my thoughts and prayer's. |
Prayers going up. Now, is it the same as we all carry cancer cells.....some people will have to deal with it at some poin in life and others will NEVER have a issue? I am praying for her babies tht all is well and she gets good news for a healthey, happy, pregnancy, delievery, and baby. Hugs, Angie |
I will keep them all in my prayers. |
Unfortunately Angela, with this specific cancer gene, if you have the gene, you are almost 100% certain to get the cancer at some point, so removing the thyroid is a must, asap. She got the call and no pregnancy. They will start provera and restart clomid after af shows up. She is hoping the schedule the boys surgeries for Christmas break (unless they want to do it sooner) so they can miss as little school as possible. They will know for certain if they already have cancer in their thyroids at that point, and decide if further action or testing is needed. |
Prayers going up for her and the boys:love: :hands: I'm sorry she's not pregnant, but maybe it's better that she wait until the boys are recovered from their surgeries, anyway:( |
I will say a prayer for your cousin and her boys. I hope the boy's surgeries go well and it shows no cancer. Bless their hearts. |
I will pray her blessings will be more than she would ever imagine and for her to have peace. Angie |
