Veterans Rememberance=Poem I wrote 1 Attachment(s) In God’s Loving Arms In a land far off you went to war, So it’s people could know and have freedom, there you are. You give so much to those you do not know, Your spirits are down and you feel so low. In a far off land you give your all, To man, women child, to each at their call. You came home all broken and your spirit array, From the memories of war, they were to forever stay. Oh, but you were referred to untold words and more, Your life was a shamble, so much pain you lived to endure. As time went on you became quite ill, It wasn’t from drugs or any pill. Your time was up in that far off land, You began to drink, drowning the memories you could not stand. My last talk with you, your fear was so great, To me your wishes you so did state. You felt such guilt from fighting in the war, coming back home to find unwelcomes galore, You questioned if God would welcome you home, and what was in store. I asked you if you believed in Jesus and God’s Great Love for you, You said yes, and what will HE do. I told you HE would welcome you home, You told me what you wanted on your headstone. Yes Raymond, God has you now FOREVER MORE, Your headstone reads what you asked it to bore. “Now I know more than any man alive.” Written by me Patti on November 11, 2008 I have written the above poem in memory of my cousion Raymond, as of last year, I know that he is forever In God’s Loving Arms. My heart goes out to each of those that also have felt the same pain as Raymond. I didn’t take any time in writing this, God lead me in my thoughts and words, I want to say Thank you to all whom have served in all branches in the United States Armed forces, And also to those in other lands that have always stood by the United States in the cause for Freedom. Jack and I want to especially thank the families of those that have served, your sacrifices were many. Thank you, Patti and Jack |
That was beautiful. Thank you:) |
May God bless Raymond, and all other soldiers. My father was a Veteran of WW2. I seem so far away from all what is going on now, ... as I only know of WW2 from what little my dad told me of the horrors he saw (in only small bits & pieces). I just know our boys now are seeing such horrors as well, from friends who have kids over there. Today is a special day for me. I have my Fathers Flag from when the 21 gun salute was done at his funeral at age 75 in 2001. Remembering how each shot rang out and shook me to my core. I was looking at his flag (which I keep over my TV) this morning and all his patches & pins from his Army uniform and remembering all Veterans. Thank you for your post. |
