so our pet parakeet, Sky, got a new penthouse today! he was SO happy. He has been flying around his cage ever since I put him in it. He is cracking me up!!!

These are the first pics of our little guy (or girl...we aren't sure which). Isn't he pretty????? I am trying to get him to mimic "pretty bird". He just stares at me when I say it LOL

I need to go get him some more toys for his cage. It looks so bare now LOL

He/she is a very "pretty bird"! You probably already know this, but if not its very easy to sex Budgies when they get a little older- the ceres(nostrils) are BLUE for a boy and BROWN for a girl! I also found this extract online

oh that is WAY cool!!! yeah, i knew about the nostril thing. I think he is only about 6 months old. I keep an eye on those nostrils all the time LOL he is a big talker. and VERY active. he loves to shake his booty too LOL

I love his blue coloring!!

My stepmotherinlaw played a tape for her bird to help him learn to talk, when she didn't have time to teach him. Poor bird. LOL!
He said a few things, but I don't remember what. He passed away a few years ago, poor fellow.

it does look like his ceres are turning blue!!!! I really think we have a boy on our hands ;) if so, he is the only boy in the house LOL

awww so pretty! They are a fun pet to have! I had a parakeet (RIP Kiwi!) as a kid, and she was ornery as could be...but she sang pretty, and lived until long after I was in college!

Awww, he reminds me so much of my daughter's old parakeet, Teensy. Teesy talked up a storm but you had to know what he was saying to understand him. He could say- 'you're a pretty boy, yes you are!', pretty clearly though- I guess he heard it so much. He was such a sweet little guy. Love the cage!:)
