Obama's family needs a yorkie! When heard Obama's family is looking for a hypoallergenic dog, from a shelter. I thought a Yorkie would be perfect. There are rescues that need homes. What you think? Why not join me and e-mail his web-site!:animal36 |
That would be AWESOME :D |
I was thinking the same thing!!! They need a Yorkie. :D:D:D |
I was actually hoping they would NOT get a yorkie....Every time a famous person gets something, anything, it creates this madness for everyone else to follow suit...after all these yorkies are purchased and the realization hits them that this is a long term commitment then a lot of these little ones will end up in shelters or neglected..... I hope with all my heart they just get a mixed breed (mutt, sorry if it offends) from a shelter....... |
he talked about it in his first post-election press conference yesterday. He said they would like a hypoallergenic dog, AND a shelter dog, but most shelter dogs would not be hypoallergenic...since they are mutts...like him. He has a little sense of humor :) I thought the same thing about the Yorkies. Any guide will tell you they are not for the first time dog owner. We all know how difficult they are to potty train...just imagine a little yorkie pee-ing up the White House--LOL |
I don't know...I'm picturing President-elect Obama running with some kind of big dog. :p Something that his daughters can cuddle with without having to worry about hurting him, etc. I think it would be ADORABLE if they got a yorkie - but like someone else said, that'll just make a million and one people go out and get a yorkie. I'd like to see them adopt some stray from the shelter. I'm sure that a shelter SOMEWHERE can accomodate their hypoallergenic-needs. :) |
The poor thing would get lost in that big house. LOL |
I hope he gets a shelter dog ....and not a yorkie - I would love to see someone with his power show the country how many dogs in shelters need homes. IF a dog is kept groomed (and the 1st Dog will be) ...how allergic can his daughter be ? Maybe others will follow suit and start considering shelters ....you know how people love to do what 'celebs' do and our new president IS a celeb in a way.. and ya on the mutt comment he made :D- I saw that on the news and thought it was pretty funny haha Megan - just read UP and you and I are thinking the same thing - SHELTER DOG For the White House - ! |

I think they need a kerry blue terrier. |
I read that their 2 requirements were that it come from a rescue or shelter and hopefully hypoallergenic. |
OKYR was sent an email asking us to submit possible rescues for them, here is what they are looking for: You may have heard, the Obama family is adding a dog to their family and have said they'll adopt from a shelter or rescue group. Iams Home 4 the Holidays wants to help the Obama family find their new family member. We would like your help identifying dogs available for adoption within the Iams Home 4 the Holidays shelter network. If you have a dog at your organization that meets the following criteria, please let us know! Fun-loving disposition Good with active, young children under 10 years old Small to medium size Comfortable with crowds and strangers Easy grooming and maintenance (hypo-allergenic/allergy friendly low dander, does not shed as much, etc.) Travels well Age: puppy to young adult |
On the other hand...maybe it would cause a run of adoptions from Yorkie rescues. ;) |

Please think this thru. Maybe it would turn out like the 101 dals..or the BH chi.. Just what any breed of dog needs. Thr President of the US having "dog" and now even more BYB pop up. I would prefer they don't get a dog that I have. I love the breeds that I work with and we don't need any more people adopting and bouncing them. |
