Is gas going to go back up to $4? My friends insist that gas prices are going to rise again after the election. Do you agree with them? They feel it is political strategy that the prices recently dropped. |
Yeah, definitely. |
Most likely will go back up a lot quicker than they came down. Probably will go back to around where they were or HIGHER. A SURE bet! |
Of course it will...doesn't really matter what the "reason this time"...betweent he election, holidays...its coming..Just paid $2.05...crazy isn't it? |
Gas isn't coming down because of the election...! Right now, they're producing a lot, but, people aren't driving. The barrels have come down. I don't think it will go back to $4/gallon, there was just a page on aol that seem to think they may go up to around $3/gallon and level off..If more people lose jobs, people will be driving less yet..so, they quit producing as much, and raise prices again |

You a right. The gas prices have nothing to do with the election. It's all economics. Will prices go up after the election? Probably at some point but will probably go back up to those $4 or more levels especially if one of the candidates gets elected... |

so, there will be more people not driving again. |
My husband heard some "expert" (I say that loosely) say on the radio that it is actually predicted that gas will go to under $2 and maybe even under $1. Who knows!!! I gave up on caring... it's gonna do what it's gonna do and we have to have gas, so I just go with it. |

That is exactly how I feel! It dosent matter how high the gas prices go, because everyone needs gas to go anywhere, especially to work. When it was over $4 I just stopped looking at the prices because I knew I had to get to work! |
I just paid $1.84 for a gallon!! I dont know why it went down but Im glad. |
Its still 2.14 here in Illinois today. Seems to be going down about five cents every day. |
Gas in NY where I live is still at about $2.65 - $2.75 a gallon(depending on where you go) |
Gas was 2.39 yesterday when I went to fill up and it was 2.65 on Thursday last week. |
It will go back up. The high prices we were all paying a few weeks back although influenced by the supply/demand rule was also in large part due to the speculators betting on the oil prices continuing to rise. |
i saw gas in south jersey today for $2.07 :) |
1.97 here in central illinois now. |
Gas was 2.19 the other day here. |
I bet it goes up some around the Holidays |

-- I never imagined when gas prices dropped that they would remain 'lower' for long. So "yes", I believe they are going to rise again. --I believe that while it may not be a political strategy, or plot completely, I believe that politics plays a big role in gas prices. So "yes", I believe that the price change will have political underlyings. --The election was Tues, everything from the present forward and beyond will techincally be happening 'after the election.' So "yes" I beleive that the increase will come after the election. So litterally speaking, base on that reasoning, my official answer to the question is, "Yes, I believe that after the election the prices of gas will increase due to political reasons." NOT to be construed as, "Yes, they will increase because of the election results.":p (Boy, do I have too much time on my hands or what!?) |
OK I don't pretend to understand the futures market and hedge funds any more than any other person who has seen the movie Trading Spaces. ;) They tried to explain it in my finance classes and the gist of it is that people speculate on whether the market prices will go up or down (be it for oranges, oil, corn or whatever) People who don't actually intend to BUY oil get involved in this speculation. They basically *bet* on the fact that the price of oil is going to go up (or down.) If it goes their way, they make money. Most of these people don't actually BUY oil. They just influence the market. Here is a very interesting Consumerist articles that tries to explain it: Gas Prices: Why Was Gas So Expensive? For the record, I paid $2.49 on Monday. I'll check to see what it is today. |
You want to know something that will make you sick. My son works offshore on a deep oil drilling ship....when he was home last week I asked him about the prices and he didn't have any idea why they came down , but he was told after the election it will go back up. Now get this, while the the gas is lower priced...the oil people are still making $600,000.00 a day.......so what in the world are they making when it's at $4 a gallon. I paid $1.88 a gallon yesterday.....I filled up the truck of course:D |
2.27 to day! |
Charlotte NC gas was around $4.30ish ....as of yesterday I paid $1.79!!!:yay_jump::yay_jump::yay_jump: |
It was below $2.00 here today. I'd better run out and get some before it goes up again |
Check this site out! Click on your state and type in your zip code and it will tell you where to go for the cheapest gas. GasBuddy.com - Find Low Gas Prices in the USA and Canada The cheapest and closest to me is $2.29. The actual cheapest is $2.19 but I'd have to drive about 10 miles to get to it. I'd rather not WASTE my gas to save .10 a gallon. |
