just to let everyone know those that had, had a spot for custom xmas cards - i have to cancel - i will not be able to do cards whatsoever this year at all.

my laptop was stolen yesterday while i was setting up and hosting a yard sale at my parents house. Everything of mine was on there, from my original card designs/templates/pictures of my girls, family pix..

everything gone.

so i'm really just bummed.. i'm borrowing my moms laptop but it's so old and slow i can't do anything except broowse email and surf YT..

this blows.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. I had a laptop stolen from me a few years ago too. It really sucks.

It is unfortunate events like this why I recommend everyone purchase an external hard drive to back up all photos and important files. They make them pretty small these days and it only takes a few minutes to copy files to it. It's like having another "folder" on your computer. Only you can put this folder anywhere you want. Ideally, I would keep mine in a fire proof safe, but I don't have one.

I am so very sorry that your laptop was stolen. I hope that you are able to replace it soon and that you will not suffer too much from it's loss in the way of identity theft, etc.

That's terrible. Will you parents home owners insurance cover it? I would give it a try. So sorry that happened.

Sorry to hear that this has happened to you. Why do people think that what is yours is Theirs??? We work long and hard to get what we own.... And they should do the same! They just may become honest and hardworking.. instead of theives... and then appreciate very much what they do own and appreciate others belongings too! :mad::thumbdown

Oh, that really sucks! Especially in this day and age when we have "everything dear to us" on the computer. You must have been heartbroken.

Wow. Some people really make me mad. I keep an external hard drive and back up my new stuff occasionally. Good thing too because my laptop hard drive gave out last month and I would have lost a lot of stuff.

im sorry but i cannot help buy cry because some of the people on YT have no sympathy..

yes i may not have had an external hard drive and it's my fault for not backing it up. i was planning on buying one or a flashdrive with the money i got from the yard sale - which i didn't get much ..

but to just e-mail me and say "whooppdee do get a new one" is just absolutely digusting.

NO WORDS or amount of money can ever replace my daughetter's NICU pictures or my 2nd daughters birth.

im disgusted by the way i've been treated..

i don't even bfit in here anymore. i thanks everyone who did have at least some sympathy.

wow, were you receiving PM's or something? I hope you didn't take my post the wrong way. I just thought it'd be good to tell people about external hard drives so that hopefully someone else wouldn't have to have all their memories stolen as well.

I wasn't taking your situation lightly. I know from experience how much it sucks having a laptop stolen. And buying a new one isn't always something that's financially possible. And even if it was, a new computer doesn't replace photos/vidoes/files that were saved on your hard drive. Those items are priceless.

No, I think everyone on this thread was very sympathetic (I know, I went back and looked because her reply shocked me). She got a nasty message from someone apparently. That's just wrong. If you don't have anything helpful to say, just stay out of it.
