I came so close to suicide
 

My mac is messed up and it won't open any programs except safari, so I have been typing all my school papers in google documents..... fun stuff:mad:

So !!! I have been up for 2 days straight working on a 10 page paper about globalization, war, state-making etc... because it is due today Tuesday 27th and it happens to be in the middle of finals and 2 other 10+ page papers. I finally finished it 16 minutes ago... Because I am such a worry wart and my mac never wants to act right now.. I decide to copy and paste it in an email and email to my 3 different email addresses. I go to paste it and it is just the last sentence fo the next to last paragraph and the last paragraph itself:(

I go back to see the google document and I have no idea where all the other pages went and OF COURSE !!! the automatic save thing already saved the mistake and I have no way to get it back. I immediately start bawling and crying because its due at 8am and no matter how highly I may think of myself I am not smart enough to pull out 10 more pages that aren't crap.

I cry and cry and cry and Hooks licks my face and I am just exhausted and can't begin to try to do it over and I call my best friend Max (who is studying abroad in London) crying hard and saying that my life is over and I am going to fail and never get into law school :eek:

He says wait don't worry there is a revision tab that saves all your revision in a history and he was right :D

Oh, man! How frustrating! I am so glad your friend knew what to do!! Good luck on your finals!!!

oh my gosh! I can't imagine how that must've felt! Thank God for your friend - I'm glad he saved the day for you! :)

not to be mean. Please don't make fun of sucide. As someone who has tried. Six times. and twice almost did.

:thumbup: I agree... suicide is a very serious thing and shouldn't be taken lightly. Also coming from someone who suffers from mental illness. This title almost caused me a panic attack.

At any rate, I'm GLAD the problem was solved... I know how frustrating that is!!!

I can only describe suicide as a loss of hope for the future.... One doesn't even have a minute feeling that it will get better and in that particular moment my feelings about my paper were the same. I apologize that it was interpreted as disrespectful, because I aligned suicide with losing my paper.

Maybe she wasn't making fun of it. That paper was her entire future. Maybe she actually did feel suicidal at the time. You don't have to suffer from depression to contemplate suicide when something awful happens to you.

Title spooked me too... but, .... choice of words may have been wrong, but she probably feels/felt that bad at the time. Been there, done that.... won't do that. ;) Let us all move on. ;)

life pressures can be really rough. i use working out as a way to reduce stress.

your life will not "be over" if you fail a test or a class. your life will not be over if you don't get into law school. i have no doubt your are stressed, but you do yourself a disservice by overdramatizing. i believe that you weren't making fun of suicide--it's a catchy thing to stick in a title. :(

Her life as she hoped and dreamed and worked towards would be over. It\'s not fair that just because it doesn\'t seem like a big deal to you means it wasn\'t a big enough deal for her to feel suicidal over. No one knows what she was thinking or feeling at that point in time.
