Ahhhh.. I wish I could get her.. :( Ok. So, before I got Zoe, My ideal dog was a Golden. I brought up the idea to my Fiance and he quickly turned it down. I didn't really nag him about it. Just let it be. We were in New Orleans one weekend and I saw a lady with a little yorkie and it occured to me, I wanted one. I had always loved yorkies but never took the step to actually get one. So, I told him I was getting one and 3 weeks later I had her. He wasn't to happy but now he LOVES her. He started looking at rescues for Cane Corso (he has always wanted one). They are great dogs but I don't feel comfortable getting an adopted Cane due to the fact that we don't know the complete history of them and they can be agressive dogs. Protective but very agressive. So, I was browsing online today and came across the cutest Golden in golden shelter. I WANT HER SO BAD but I know that we can't. :( Sucks. There is no convincing him. Especially now that I have Zoe. He is totally opposed to 2 dogs if it's not his cane. UGH. Damn men!. I just needed to vent. GRRMF - Dog for Adoption - Kaylee She is just precious. |
Awwww...she is beautiful! You can tell from her pictures that she is such a happy baby! Its sad her parents had to give her up...I would show him the pictures anyway...they may melt his heart! |
She is precious. I did show him. No response. lol He isn't a warm hearted kinda guy. lol He is great but things like that don't "melt his heart". lol |
Have you told him that you will always have to separate your yorkie and a rescued adult Cane Corso that has not been raised with him? Separate rooms, baby gates, the works. They can be very aggressive and even a "nip" or rough play can be fatal for a yorkie :( From a selfish perspective, they don't look very cuddly. I can appreciate the beauty of a Cane Corso from a far, but no way no how is one of those canes coming near my bed :) Down the road, if you guys are planning on having kids, the Golden would be soooooo much better with both the kids and the yorkie. I can't speak for a particular dog, but Golden are usually a very tolerant of being annoyed and pulled at by little dogs and kids. If you have a Cane, Baby, and Yorkie, that's three things you've gotta separate. |
He sent an application to the cane corso rescue and they said they wouldnt suggest getting one because they were concerned it would hurt zoe. So, he is backing off for right now. I told him i'm getting a golden. May not be now but I will have a golden before he decides to get a cane. lol |

Not to get off topic but I think if I remember right, it was 2 Cane Corso's that attacked and killed that lady in San Francisco right outside her apartment. That was a huge ordeal here in California. Someone correct me if Im wrong :o |
That looks like our golden retriever..shes 3 and has the worse case of hip dysplasia that the vet has ever seen in one this young..we kind of adopted this one from our son, as he lived here with us for a year(moved in when the golden was 1) and then I bought a shepherd, and now, the son has moved in to his own house, and we told him to leave the golden here and the 2 outside dogs were attached to one another...they are a great dog, they are puppies until the day they die..but, we feel so bad for this one..she's on meds for the rest of her life for the hip dysplasia and of course arthritis..:( |
I'm so sorry to hear about your Golden's hip trouble. :( That can be so hard to deal with when you know they are in pain and you are limited to what you can do to help. |

I would LOVE to have a Golden, my husband absolutely loves the breed and have always wanted one. I really think that if you just went ahead and got a Golden and as you did when you got Zoe, he will love it. I think he just needs time. |
Wookie I agree.. He want's his Cane and I can understand but I also have my son living in our home and he is only 5. I don't want any kind of aggressive dog around him. I will eventually just show up with a Golden and i'm sure he will love it just like he did Zoe. He does need some time. :) |
The Cane Corso really don't look very friendly to me....in fact they look like a veyr powerful breed. With a small dog and kid around, I wouldn't want a Cane Corso unless I have had him since he was a pup and was really well-trained but...even with that I would prefer a Golden :) |
I agree 120%. If we were to get one it would have to be a puppy. Not a rescued one. Not with Zoe and my son Rodney. No way. |
Canes are beautiful dogs...but it's not a risk I would take unless I got it from a flawless breeder with a completely clean backround on the dog's ancestors. Especially with a small child and dog. I hope you can get your golden though. The sweet girl you posted a link to is precious. I love goldens. My best friend has 2 - sweetest/craziest dogs ever :p. |
