I'm new around here (doing research because someday I'd like to own a yorkie) but I do know about this from experience. We have a cat that likes to use our coaches as his personal litterbox. Use 8 oz. peroxide, 1 tsp of baking soda and a couple of drops of dish soap. Mix it all together and soak the area with the mixture. Let it soak in really good and then blot it out and let it dry. It got rid of the smell in my furniture, thankfully! And it didn't cause any fading to the fabric at all, but I guess you may want to try it in a small area first, just to make sure. I figured my furniture was ruined anyway so why not give it a shot and it really was amazing. You may need to use some water as it's drying to get rid of the baking soda but I just vacuumed and it came up. Good luck |
My brother had his cat for 14 years, when it started peeing on the carpet, they took it to a no kill shelter..they had new carpet, that had to be replaced..they tried everything on it, but, nothing worked..Even the carpet guys told them there was nothing to get cat pee smell up with... |
Check out this thread, post #9 tells you what it is ;) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...er-recipe.html |
well im not about to get rid of him!!..Ill replace the carpet first..but Ill deff try the peroxide trick and see how that goes,,never heard of using peroxide for cat pee..so mabey I was just not doing enough..if that dosent work,,ill borrow the neighbors rub srubber..if none of that works...well then, I have a good excuse to finally get rid of that ugly carpet..(been trying to convince hubby to put in hardwood floor)...but if I end up replacing the rug, then I guess my next step is trying to figure out WHY he after 3 yrs he has suddenly started peeing in this spot when his litter box is less then 5 yards away....he is a male but nutered, and the only cat in the house with 3 dogs...so I WOULDNT THINK ITS MARKING?...but I noticed when i CATCH him in the act he is scratchng the wall? |
I've heard many times on here that Nature's Miracle works wonders. |

A neighbors cat ran into my house several years back, I had the bad habit of keeping the back door open, hardly any bugs in Arizona, and the cat peed on the side of my couch. I tried many types of cleaners before I found Natures Miracle. That stuff is great; you really have to saturate the surface, and give the product time to work. Urine contains proteins that most regular cleaners can't touch, but certain products that contain enzymes, which are really a "good" bacteria, that eat the protein, which eliminates the smell. A black light will show you any protein based stains, and they are easy to buy this time of year. Remember, when you saturate the stain, at first it will smell stronger, just because it's wet, give it time. Odoban is another enzyme cleaner, and I believe Simple Solutions makes one too, look for the word "enzyme." |
So odd I have had my cat for 4 years and she just started peeing on the carpet as well. I am at a loss, have have no ideas why. |

If a cat starts peeing in the house when it never did before, I would have it checked for Urinary Tract Infection. |
peroxide works MIRACLES! I have used it for all kinds of stains and it has never failed me! Let us know what works please! :) |
