Truvia, calorie free sweetener It also say's that it is suitable for people with diabetes. I was wondering if anyone has tried this product. My husband picked up a box of 40 packets at Kroger the other day, I had changed my diet and stopped adding sugar to my food so he was happy to find this product for me to try. I had a packet in my hot tea this morning, I was pleasantly surprised that I did not have a strange after taste after drinking it, like I get with other sugar substitutes. |
I haven't heard of it. We use Stevia. I carry tons of these packets in my purse so when we eat out and have iced tea we have our own sweetner. It's 100% Natural. Calorie Free, sugar free and doesn't contain soy, wheat, yeast, milk or artificial ingredients of any kind. Natural herb, saccharin- free, aspartame-free and no after taste. We get it at Trader Joe's. |

After reading things about truvia and learning about the stevia plant, I am wondering how stevia got past us LOL. Now I must go to Trader Joes this weekend and I will get some to try too! Thank you for informing me of where to find Stevia! |

I use Green Leaf stevia but I will be on the lookout for Truvia- I'd never heard of it. Does it desolve easily? Thanks for posting it!:) |

Hey Brandy, I've been meaning to bump this thread up to thank you for the great recommendation.:) I have totally replaced my Sweet Leaf with Truvia and I like it a lot better. I love the texture- it's exactly like sugar and it tastes really good too. |

I just saw a commercial on this stuff the other day. I heard mention of it before, but until I saw the commercial I was like, "oh yeah, I want to try that". |
I like Stevia except it doesnt mix up well in iced tea. How does Truvia do? I havent seen that product yet. |
I LOVE Stevia and have used it for a few years now. I use the Stevita brand and I get 16oz jars from here: Omni Supplements - quality vitamins, nutritional supplements and natural health products For those unfamiliar w/ Stevia: *Stevia Rebaudiana is an herb in the Chrysanthemum family *It doesn't alter blood sugar :) *It is 200-300x sweeter than table sugar *Doesn't damage teeth (like sugar) *No calories |

I use Stevia as well. I get mine from WalMart in the Supplement section - 100 packets for under $6.00. I might have to rethink getting it at WalMart and start looking at a more reliable source like the one that Anne posted. |
i've been wanting to try this too.....thanks for posting all the info. i have to remember when i go to the store to look and see if i can find it. i've been using splenda but have been trying to get away from it. |
good thread. |
I'm the odd ball here... I just bought some this week and tried it in my coffee and I thought it had a horrible after taste!! Maybe I need to try it again... |
I buy my Stevia at my local health food/natural food store. Truvia is a form of Stevia, but "supposedly" better?! I haven't tried it yet. Another sweetner out there is Agave Nectar...but there have been some negatives on it. |

I also grow stevia and sometimes use it when I brew tea for iced tea. I stick a bunch in with some mint or lemon verbena or whatever with the tea bags to steep. It sweetens the tea really well but it has a sort of green taste to it. I don't get that with Sweet Leaf or Stevia. |
I just checked my agave nector and it has 60 calories per Tbs. I would think it's still much better than sugar because of how our bodies metabolize it though. |
