Are you on mommy duty too? Feel better- sending get well hugs. |
Do you have anything there caffeinated? Caffeine works for migraines. Hope you feel better soon. |
I am so sorry your headache is sooooooooo bad. I took off yesterday from work because I have had a headache for three days and can't think straight. But is sounds like yours is way worse than mine. Sending warm thoughts and hope you feel better soon. Did you go to the doc? Perhaps you should if you didn't go. You need drugs girl. Who's watching the baby? I hope your not with that awful headache. |
Have you had headaches like this before and have you gone to the dr. about it. sometimes those can be a signal to a serious problem... better safe than sorry |
:( iam so sorry to hear your not feeling well maria, My daughter gets awful migrains, Be careful not to take to much pain med, the doc told us that sometimes its a rebound headache from taking to much, amy takes tramadol , and uses an ice pack, sending you hugs and prayers sweetie , get some rest... |
Oh, Maria, i am so sorry you are in so much pain!! Have you tried an icepack on the back of your neck? That will usually help reduce the blood flow by thining the veins in the neck and thus reducing the pounding of the heartbeat in the head. It always helps me when i get those bad ones!!:( I hope you can get some relef GF!! |
Oh, hun! I too get migraines and take Fioricet when I get the big ones. Deb is right - take caffeine if you have it - not only will it help w/ vasoconstriction, but it is a potentiator of other pain meds. |
My best friend has had to occasionally go into the ER and get IV drugs for her headaches. Maybe you need to call your doctor's office at least and tell them how bad it is. Hope you feel better soon. I don't get migraines but have had sinus headaches bad enough to put me down. |
I actually went to the dr. just last week with a horrible headache. I have miagranes, but this wasn't a miagrane; it was one of those that you feel every heartbeat! I had it for like a week off and on...and this one day I just couldn't stand it anymore. My blood pressure was through the roof, and my pressure is usually normal. She gave me a shot, don't have a clue what it was, but I'm going to find out if it comes in pill form. The headache was gone in less than an hour. We decided it was all from stress! Work has been a mess and got the best of me. Please have it checked out if you think your blood pressure might be involved; that's nothing to fool with. Good luck! |
My dad used to get those often. He actualy used to go a little nuts, so we left the house for hours, till it was safe to make noise again. Before that, we used to put his fit in warm/hot watter, and ice on his head. He used to say, it happened when he skips coffe. |
Aww I can totally sympathize. I've had terrible sinus headaches lately. I have side effects from allergy meds so my sinuses get really bad and I've had a few sinus infections this year. Nothing helps because it's more like pressure than pain and pain meds only do so much and they do not relieve the pressure. Steam from the shower only helps so much and then it fills up again. Ugh I hate to say this because I hate the cold but I can't wait for winter and no allergies! |
Ice. When I get headaches like that, I take an ice pack and go to my room. Do some deep breaths and and relax, try to release the tension. I put the pack on and it will hurt like son of a gun, then i take the ice off. I do this a few times, leaving the ice on for as long as i can. After a few times it goes away. I think it shocks the nerves. good luck |
I have had some awful migraines too. I went to the ER once. Imitrex has been my saviour. You might try this--it sounds strange but it works. It is a meditation technique that really helps. Lie down in a dark room and focus on the spot where the pain is. Just really focus on it as you breathe normally. You'll still feel the pain, but it won't be painful..... I know it's wierd, but try it. You will get some relief. This is a proven meditation technique that people use to deal with pain all the time. You'll get better at it the more you do it. |
oh no Maria!:( how you feeling now? better i hope...x |
soo sorry for your pain I have suffered with migrines for the last 20 years. I've taken imitrex, zomig, maxalt, alhert, and so many others. They would work for a few months but after a while they would stop working. About 4 years ago my Dr. was doing some research on migrines and she discovered Frova. This is for mensrual migrines and migrines caused by a hormonal inbalance. Frova works everytime I take it. Have your Dr. look up some info on Frova. There is no reason you have to suffer when they is medication out there. I do know that some meds can affect the heart but it seem now days all meds affect something. Good luck. |
If this kind of headache is out of character for you and you are not getting relief with the meds you are taking, please see a physician ASAP. It could be something serious, and even if it's not, a doctor will be able to prescribe something that will help you. |
Thank you everyone, but yesterday I just had to go upstairs in the bedroom and just cry myself to sleep. I have had this headeaches for about 8 years now. The doctor has prescribed me co-codamol about 1 year ago and I use to love it because it use to take the pain away instantly but now it doesn't work anymore. I think my body just got use to it... I have had two brain scans in the past 8 years and they have never discovered anything. I wonder if it's anything to do with the problems I am having now... This are my symptoms: I put on 5 kg in the last 3 weeks altho not eating much at all I have headeaches even worse than before I am feeling without any energy I have a few hairs growing in my chin And it hurts a lot during intercourse(something I never had before) So my doctor has done some blood tests on monday and I will get my results next monday or tuesday. The doctor thinks it might be early menopause or even problems with my thyroid...I am sacred cause I was planning to get pregnant next year!!! |

I know exactly what you mean. I get awful migranes sometimes, when all you can do is cry. It's terrible. I recently found something called "Head On Migrane" ... it's a stick that looks like a gluestick, and you actually rub it on your head/temples, etc. It doesn't make it go away when it's that bad, but it is the only thing that will ease it up a bit for me. I also try to have something sweet to pop in my mouth - like a hard candy, and sometimes that helps too. Buy HeadOn - Apply Directly to Forehead Migraine Relief Online at drugstore.com |
Oh, I am so sorry you are in so much pain today. Not very good timing, what with Snowy's arrival, and all. |
looks like everyone is giving some good advice... all i can say is hope you feel better soon~ ((hugs)) |
it looks like you have gotten some great advice, but I'm wondering if you are on any type of birth control??? I ask because I have had major issues with those exact same symptoms you listed and once I switched my birth control, a lot of those issues were resolved. headaches, moodiness, weight gain, random hair growth, problems with my complexion, fatigue...as well as many other minor issues. but the headaches were my biggest issue...and the weight gain. maybe talk to your OB/GYN (not sure what they are called in the UK), and see if switching your birth control is something they can help you with, and see if that helps. It's worth a try, IMO. there are SO many BC options out there...and even if you have never had issues with a certain type, your body does weird things sometimes and it can suddenly start to reject what you are on and a simple switch in BC does the trick. even if it is changing from one brand of pill to another brand of pill...that is what helped me. My best friend also went through it and switching her bc pill did the trick. good luck hun!!!! |
