Wow! Years ago I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled. They couldn't knock me out because I'm real sensitive to that stuff & it would have interfered with medication, so they just gave me valium. Well, about halfway through, I could feel everything! Then, to make matters worse, they were supposed to take me off the valium very slowly, but just stopped it cold -- I ended up going into shock right there in the chair. I remember hurting, and shaking, but not much else. I couldn't talk either, ugh - at least I never have to go through that again! So sorry that heppened to you!! |
My dh could feel his entire hernia repair but wasn't able to let anyone know. |
OMG!!!! You poor thing!!! This is such a HUGE fear of mine!!!  I had major eye surgery (I had a Detached Retina) back in Nov. of 2006 and I was TERRIFIED of waking up during surgery! Granted that was my very FIRST surgery ever, but OMG was I ever SCARED. I actually CRIED right before they wheeled me back there because I was absolutely mortified - I seriously thought I was going to wake up and feel something and it scared the tar out of me!! I think they actually have to remove your eyeball during this surgery (UGH!!!! YUCK!!) and all I kept imagining was waking up    That alone probably would have killed me lol. I kept telling the anesthesiologist to give me as many meds as he possibly could without killing me LOL!!! He so laughed at that :p I swear I told him that a million times  He kept telling me jokes to try and make me laugh and get me to relax. Gosh they were all so totally wonderful up there. However, I was just scared out of my mind I cannot even tell you. Thank God all went well and I didn't wake up (actually, they had a hard time GETTING me to wake up because I was so darn out of it LOL - I guess he really DID give me as much medication as he possibly could LOL!!!)...I never felt a thing though, praise God! |

I saw a report on this subject when the movie "Awake" was coming out and one of the ways they can make sure you are not awake is have you hooked up to a EEG machine. This machine measures brain waves, your brain should be at rest. The report said they didn't do it because of the cost. |

I had cosmetic surgery done (my nose) twice and I woke up (but felt no pain) for the first operation. I remember waking up for about 15 seconds and seeing out of the corner of my eye BLOOD, a big REEEEED glob of blood siling down my cheek but before I had time to FREAK OUT (lol), the anesthesiologist saw that my eyes were open and gave me more "cocktails" as he called it lol I also remember having my eyes closed but hearing the radio (they had on Z100) during my operation. I also had foot surgery (twice) and I remember waking up for the second foot procedure but thank goodness I didn't feel any pain. Freaky! |
OMG, I would be really terrified if anything like that would happen to me, but I have heard of quite a few people this has happened to... |
