24 hours smoke free so far. This is hard!!! Im on the patch, but I havent smoked since yesterday!!! Someone said the first 3 days are supposed to be the hardest. I have to keep busy too. Lol, and Ive been busy today. I vacuumed and shampooed the car interior, washed the outside of the car, swept and mopped all my floors, vacuumed the carpets, and gave Triss a bath. I cant sit still or I feel like Im going crazy! Wish me luck! |
You can do it! Way to go!! Don't quit quitting! |
You can do it! I have been on Chantix over 2 weeks and have been smoke free 8 days. Yippee! Keep up the good work! Jackie |
Yeah, to you!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON STARTING TO QUIT SMOKING!! You have everyone behind you on your quest to be Cigarette FREE!! Hugs, Baron's Mom :aimeeyork |
you are doing a great job...keep up the good work...getting the smells out of your belongings will help you even more...way to go...keep us updated on how you are doing |
Congrats, it is hard but you can do it. |
That's great!!! Just take one day at a time. |
A big congrats to you! I'm quit 3 years now, quit cold turkey. It was one of the hardest things I ever did. The first 3 days your body is withdrawing from nicotine. Then you deal with the psychological withdrawal. The first week is hell week, the second week is heck week and the third week is just feel like crap week. After that, things slowly get better. I highly suggest joining an online support group. There you will find out why everything you are feeling and craving is normal and how to fight that demon and win. Take it one day at a time. You are doing great so far. If you want a referral to a great support group, PM me. |
Congratulations! Keep up the good work. If you run out of things to do come to my house - I can keep you busy for a while! |
Way to go girl. It sounds like others are doing it also. Maybe you all can support each other. But it sounds like you are on a quest and can make it. You are almost over the 3 days. |
Keep up the good work! My husband started smoking when he was 15 and quit when he was 24. He now chews a lot of gum in place of that.;) |
Well, When I get up tomorrow morning it will be 48 hours. This is a huge accomplishment for me because I smoked every day for 16 years!! Im not sure what to do tomorrow. My house is spotless, my car is detailed, and my dogs are squeaky clean. :D (I must've wasted a lot of time smoking because I've never been able to get so much done in one day. Plus I cant sit still either, or I think about it.) My husband has been so supportive (hes a non smoker). I start getting second thoughts and he talks me right out of it. He's helping me stay busy too. I can't seem to get tired tonight for some reason. Its 2am here. It must just be the anxiety of quitting or something. I will get some rest soon. I have to be easy on myself this week. |
Stick with it! You will be so happy that you did. I quit almost two years ago..with the chantix...I won't go there...anywho..still non smoker...don't even think about one..this is after 20 years of smoking! You can do it! Give yourself a reward tomorrow for making it that many hours!!!! Mind you, don't make your reward anything that you can relate to smoking...coffee, eating....get a smoothie or something nice for yourself! You will be glad you did! VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!!! |
Well done!!! Well done! I know it's hard.....I smoked from the age of fifteen till I was 23...I gave up the day I found out I was pregnant with my first child and 4 years on I'm still a non-smoker. I'm so glad I did it...especially since the smoking ban came in here last year....I don't fancy standing outside the pub in the rain on a saturday night just to have a fag! (and this is England so the weather's always crap!) keep up the good work...you can do it!!!:Dxxx |
Congratulations! Wish you all the luck. I quit in 1997 cold turkey. You can do it! Do something that will keep your hands busy...this seems to be a big part of it. Do something like gardening or crochet, knitting, just something that will occupy your hands. Hubby is on is way to quitting too. He is on Chantix. This is his 2nd time trying. He's smoked for many, many years! |
I quit cold turkey 24 years ago on July 10 and I still mark the date on the calendar every year and celebrate!! Hang in there, it gets easier with every day. Just think about all the minutes and hours and years you're adding to your life with every minute and hour and year you don't smoke. Good luck! |
Wow I didn't know there was this many (ex) smokers on the forum.. I started in college, when I was 18. I am never addicted to it, so I quit about a year ago. I was 22. I still relapse on birthdays when me and friends go clubbing, but it's getting better. Have been smoke free for almost 5 months. Mom still smokes though :( I wish everyone who's trying to quit all the best. :) You can do it! It's mostly psychological anyways, so mind over matter babes! |
Good Luck! You can do it! My dad stopped smoking cold turkey and has not smoked since. This was probably like 10 years ago. |
Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I like to hear that so many people are quitting. I can't wait until this 'hell week' is over and my cravings aren't so nasty. This is the start of day number 3. :) Saturday will be a week and I will have saved about $42 and that is enough to buy this 1 gig mp3 player Ive been wanting. :D |

Good luck! I just started on Chantix this week. |
One tip, don't stuff yourself. I smoked only for a few years and quit when I was trying to get pregnant for my oldest. After meals was the hardest for me (that and driving..) but I found that if I didnt overfill myself, it wasnt as bad. As for in the car if that is another difficult area, get toothpicks to chew on and play with. Its not a very flattering look, but its no worse than a smoke hangin out of your mouth, lol. I used to be a very nervous driver and always needed something to fiddle with. |
