Any Marathon runners? My hubby signed me up for a marathon that is this saturday! Are there any other marathon runners here at YT? My hubby is training for the NYC Marathon in November so he thought it would be fun for us to both do a 1/2 Marathon together. This will be my first (not hubby's) and I hope Im not sucking wind and praying to the pavement:rolleyes: and actually make it to the finish line! Send good vibes that I make it all of the 13 miles!!!! |
You can do it, Amie!! I'll be rootin' for ya, girl! Good luck! :D |
My husband and I run (not as much as we were this summer) and my parents are big runners. They actually have a Marathon coming up this month. Good Luck! I know first hand that long distance running takes a lot of hard work and dedication! You can't just wake up one day and say I think I'll go run 13.1 or 26.2 miles today lol |
Another marathon runner here :):) So this will be your first 1/2 marathon? Hows' the training been going? Once you do a half marathon, it's hard not to get the itch to do a full one. Good luck on Saturday!!! Enjoy yourself and don't push it too early, or you'll pay for it in the later miles, lol |

The training has been good, have really enjoyed spending the time w/my hubby. He has done a bunch of 5K, 10K and 1/2 marathon. The NYC one will be his first full marathon and I know I am not anywhere near ready for that. This marathon is sponsored by Entemann's Deserts and you run past their factory - so that should be torture smelling all of those baked goods as you run! |

GOOD LUCK - and never in my life did I aspire to run till my feet bleed....unless it was chasing one of my girls which, thank God, - only happened one time. |

Good Luck girl! I know you can do it! :) |
I have never ran a marathon but one of the girls that work for me has. She is doing another one in Las Vegas in December. I am very proud of her. I will be doing my very first 5k the weekend after Thanksgiving. Best of luck to you! Have a great time. |

He went to see it this year and decided right away that he wanted to train for next year. |
I'm a marathoner too; but usually only if it's involved with triathlons. I've completed 4 Iroman world championship races (DNF'd one:rolleyes:) in Kona and am thinking about starting to train again since I haven't done one since '03. It's so time consuming though and my dh is NOT into any type of exercise at all, so it's all me. Just start out slow and enjoy the race; if you've trained well, you shouldn't have a problem finishing. Good luck (and don't forget to hydrate!) |

Good luck to your brother in his training and hope he can qualify for the IM Hawaii! |

I've been wanting to do the Penticton race since they first started it, but you have to be REALLY fast (or sign up the minute you finish the race for the next year) to get into it now! It's supposed to be absolutely beautiful and has incredible support staff. Someday, hopefully.......Good luck to your brother; I've got friends in Canada and wish I could race with them other than in Hawaii; it's always kind of anxiety producing on raceday there:cool:. |
I started running again recently. I did track in high school but haven't run in a few years. I ride horses in endurance (50 to 100 mile races in one day), and just last week rode 160 competition miles in three days! Anyway, I would like to hear about your training. My best friend does marathons, triathalons and is doing her first ironman next summer so she is my "trainer," but I am always looking for other's training tips and schedules as well. GOOD LUCK this weekend!!!!!!!!!!! You will ROCK it!!!!!!!!!! |
