The body search is now ongoing and they're finding them. :( People are still without power and food and everywhere you look - debris. |
3 Attachment(s) My stomach actually started knotting up all over again looking at these pictures. These are the bridges a mile from my home. The Rainbow Bridge and the Veteran's Memorial Bridge. On the other side, Bridge City where my brother lives. He lost everything. The gator is a familiar site on the bayou, now in many yards. The search and rescue shot I found on the internet, they are headed into Bridge City. |
me too Denise. I've never been scared like I was the night it hit and this is my 3rd hurricane. We knew it was going to be bad but people didn't expect the mass devestation ....You can't even drive down a street here in Houston without seeing damage...power still isn't on for many We're going to be paying for Ike for a long time to come and my heart goes out to all those who lost everything. I can't imagine having no home :( |
Wow those pictures really made me realise just how devastating this storm truly was! :eek: The power and magnitude are mind numbing. :hands: |

I looked at every one of these images. How heartwrenching. My nephew is involved in rescue went there from Maryland to help in the aftermath. I sorrow for all that have been caught up in this devastation. :( :cry: |
How awesome that your nephew drove All the way from MD to help with the search and rescue. I received that file a few days ago but I was only able to look at the 1st page, it was just too painful. I tried it again yesterday and made it to the last page, it was NOT easy. I feel for those that have come back to look at their home, but there isn't one there for them. It must be a heart wrenching feeling. Those of us that had fence and roof damage are so incredibly blessed. Let us pray together for God to bring strength to the people who lost everything, to bring hope to these folks, so they can rebuild their lives, their homes. |
Yes...it was all very frightening. I was so worried about friends there. I have one that I stayed in contact with but didn't call her as much as I wanted to because I didn't want to be a burden as well, calling and calling. I stayed up most of the night watching the news. I was pretty stressed about those that didn't leave. Thank God the ones I know were okay. |

Isn't it amazing that we have all of this devastation, and most of the country doesn't even know because of how quickly the story was dropped by the national news??? It just makes me sick :confused: |

It IS a shame that it isn't being covered more than it has..I think we all know it's not going away anytime soon. Ike's aftermath I stayed awake most of the night as Ike rolled through The Woodlands, and heard lots of heavy knocks on my roof. Not wanting to get too close to the windows, I waited until daylight to survey the damage. The Woodlands only received 90-100 mph winds, but it was enough to put trees on and/or through my neighbors' roofs, and flood my yard to less than 3 inches below my floor level. Fortunately, the winds and the flooding subsided, but our neighborhood was inaccessible for a few days from felled trees, and as I finally was able to venture out into the area, I was shocked by the extent of the damage. It's true that if you don't actually experience it first-hand, you can have no idea what it's really like. |

Thank you for posting these. I honestly didnt realize just how horrible this was. Pictures are worth a thousand words. My heart goes out to each person who went through this mass destruction. Wow....The damage was so terrible. The homes, town, businesses, etc that are a total lost. How does a city rebuild, I'd be in fear of this happening again. Insurance probably doesnt even cover most of this. The lives lost, this missing people, people without no where to go, no family.......I could go on and on, I think we all must continue to pray each and every day for everyone who is involved. The heartache is not over for all those people. Ike was like the devil, powerful, destroying lives in it path, bringing heart ache. I serious could not imagine going through this. I would have been terrified. I hate storms anyway. Dear God, please touch each and every life involved from the ones who lost loved ones, to the ones who lost everything, to even the people without power, water, etc. Comfort them Lord....Bring peace to their lives again. Help them to carry on after such destruction. Amen |
