We are home!! We got home not long ago. Tried to go around houston because I panic with that traffic, and I got lost doing it! Made a bunch of stops so maybe the dogs wouldn't get sick and I believe it helped a lot..Now to my house. Wasn't as bad as it could have been. The porch swing is shredded, lost a couple of pillars that hold the porch roof up. My dad had said part of the eaves were hanging but I can't tell in the dark. All of the windows are fine! I've been scrubbing mold from the fridge and kithchen and bathroom. Could have been a lot worse. The babies were so glad to be home. The mosquitos are awful, they are in swarms and I swear they dive bomb. Kinda worried about the dogs going out to do their business. Stopped on the way in and Walmart is bare, going to try the next town over for groceries tomorrow. House smells gross but I'm working on it. Waiting for the ac to cool the place. I will never forget my friends and the way you came to us in our time of need. God Bless you all. PS..There were actually fema trucks all over as we came in, even as it was getting dark..even fema buses set up to help with paperwork. I thought I was dreaming. God really does meet your need. They are offering hot meals, water, and ice. So we're fixed up for tonight and will go shopping tomorrow. |
I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I am very glad that you made it home and that your home is ok. Good Luck to you! d |

Thank you so much for checking in - I have thought about you all day today. I'm so glad that you made it home and so far, haven't found too much damage. Take care! Hugs from me, Rexy & Rowdy!!! |
Oh, Denise, I thank God that you all are safely home! I am so thankful that it's not so bad as it could be. God bless you and your children ... tomorrow will be a new day! Just remember that you are loved. |
Denise Thank God your home. Please be careful with the cleaning, I sent you a pm. I have been told that the fabric softener sheets pinned to clothing helps to ward off mosquitos, don't know if that is true, but sure worth the try. Prayers you will be able to get supplys tomorrow, so happy and thankful to hear FEMA is there and doing. Please take care of yourself in cleaning with that mold. Some suggestions in my pm, can't help the Mom in me :D Love and Hugs from the both of us, Jack and Patti |
Thanks for the suggestions Patti. Guys, thank you for seeing us thru this. I faired a lot better than most around here. Just across the bridge in Bridge City is devestation like I have never seen. Most of the town is going to have to be rebuilt. As we were coming in there were caravans of every kind of work truck coming over the bridge. Will try to send some pictures tomorrow. Villette and the rest, you know who you are..there will be a special place in heavan for you sweet girls. And Patti...thanks for the Mom Talk, I needed when my mom couldn't be there. I swear no matter how old you get (and I am 49) you need it. It calmed my fears and lifted me up. I need to stay home tomorrow and get us put back together and things scrubbed. Hope to be back to work soon. The kids made the trip ok and the doggies are all sprawled out on the cool linoleum snoozin. Not far from it myself.;) |
I'm glad to see that things seem to be on the upswing for ya. I wish I could come help you clean up. Please PM me if you need anything. More then happy to send a care package your way. |
I'm glad you were able to check in, I've been thinking about you wondering how your trip home was. Thank God the damage to your home isn't extensive, I'm sure the clean up is tough and the mosquitos sound like a real dive bombing brigade. Take care and stay safe:) |
Denise...I'm glad you're home...safe and sound. Really happy your home survived only a small portion of damage. Being home has got to feel great...even one that's stinky and mosquito infested. :p |

Even Houston, which is huge, is full of debris and downed trees everywhere - I mean EVERYWHERE ...That hurricane was a monster. It's the worst one I've ever been in and it makes the 3rd I bet they're tired and you too ...but now at least you're back home and can start your normal routines again. Anyway - I was happy to help as others were ....and glad you made it home safe and sound. |
Good morning all. Moving kind of slow this morning but glad to be here none the less. Everyone seems to be doing ok, just pretty tired. Gotta try to make it in to work sometime today, the payperiod ends on sunday..you know how that goes. The news papers were piled up at the ends of the driveway, you would not believe the pictures in htem from the surrounding areas, wish I could hold them up to the screen and show you. Giz and Bubba were so happy to trot around in their own yard when they woke up, I made them get right back in after because of the 'skeeters.;) |
Thank Goodness you don't have greater damage and glad to hear you made it home safely!! |
