Voting/Address Question I finally registered to vote (Yay!!) But my address on my drivers license and state ID is my previous addy (my parents house, I moved out 2 years ago)...yeah I know, I procasinate on going to the DMV to get it changed, so does anyone know if when I go to vote I'll have to have an ID w/ my current address on it? Or if anyone knows where I can find this information out at? |
It depends on where you live. You should get a voter registration card and you can show that. I've never had to show ID, just sign a sheet and they check my signature to the one on file. You should make sure though because both sides are sure going to be poll watching. You could just go to the DMV. Actually you can register to vote at the DMV :) |
I thought they were saying that you will have to show ID to vote this year? I am not positive. If I recall, if you don't show ID, you do have to sign something saying you are who you are ;) I had my ID with me when I voted for governer (not that it mattered since he lost anyway..grumble grumble.... ) and I believe I had to show it. |

Here in Michigan if your license is still valid they just add a change of addr sticker to the back with your current address. You might want to give them a call and see if you could just stop by and do a change of address. You might need to do it soon so that it's your address of record by Nov. |
You sound JUST like me except I've only been moved out for a year. I'm a HUGE procrastinator and I LOVE my license picture right now and I know if I get it re-done it'll look horrid :rolleyes:. |
i dont know about other states..but here in mass..if you still look the same in your current license picture...they ask you if you want to keep the current pic thats on file. |
Here in Va...the address on your license designates the poll location for you to caste your vote. No exceptions. You also have to show your ID and from that...they mark your name off their list of registrants. Also we are allowed to renew our licenses on line...and you keep the photo. You're allowed to renew this way every other time your license is up for renewal. |
