My Secret Obsession 4 Attachment(s) I love hot air balloons. I think all goes back to when I would watch Pipi Longstocking. I thought it was the coolest thing her traveling around in that balloon. It was one of the first charms on my bracelet. I love'em - never been in one but love'em. This weekend was the Plano Balloon Festival and of course I had plans:( It happens that way every year! Anyway, on the way to my brother\'s house Friday night, I saw them up in the air. So Sam and I decided to chase\'em:p Lots of pics coming! I love them, too. My dtr and DH were lucky enough to have gone up in them. We watched one land (forced to) in the median of the highway we were driving on one time. Everyone was ok. My memory usually doesn't last much past 20 minutes:D, but how's this: Pippi Lotta Delicatessa Windowshade Macralmint Ephrium's Daughter Longstocking? I loved Pippi, too:D. |
The ballons have a balloon fesival at the local community college by here every year. The balloons usually go right over our house. One year we got to go up in a tethered balloon. I wanted to go on up so bad though I am scared of heights. One landed close by one year and we helped them. We were invited to be in the group chasing it the next day but they were grounded due to rain. They gave us pins to wear that were a replica of their balloon. |
SO COOL !!! I had the chance to see that once and it was incredible seeing all the colors in the air - they're just amazing with their patterns and vivid color and Girl - 'Pippi Longstocking' and 'Harriet the Spy' were books I must have read 100 times over as a kid - I don't think I've ever heard anyone who mentioned Pippi before till you wait - you said WATCH pippi L - not read - I think I really dated my self :) |

I so loved the movie with the two families that crossed over the Berlin wall in the fall of 79 to escape in the hot air balloon... a walt disney true story.. and I cannot think of the name of it right now.. but what a great story, what a great movie.. full of suspense... if any one can remember the name please add it to this thread..I watched the moving in early early 80's after a movie was made of that story.. anne |

I love hot air balloons. I bet you had a blast chasing that one! When we loved in Albuquerque, we went to the Hot Air Balloon Festival. It was incredible. There were over 600 hot air balloons, and walking around them while whey were inflating them just at dawn was unforgetable. They flew over our house regularly and sometimes you could be outside and hear people talking. LOL You wave and say hello and then watch them until they are out of sight. |

Twalla, If you ever have the opportunity to go up in one. I would definitely suggest it. I have been several times ( living in the wine country) It is the most peacefully feeling. Floating along :D. And early in the am it is crisp and quiet.:thumbup: If you ever come to California we have a balloon festival every year in September up in Windsor, not too far from me. I see them all the time while I am on my way to work, just floating along. You have to be careful here with all the traffic, accidents have happened. I hope everyone gets to go up someday. |
It sure was lot of fun watching the balloons. I would LOVE to go to New Mexico and watch'em.:thumbup: I love Pippi Longstocking! I read a couple of books but mainly remember watching it. |

Great pictures!!!! I love them too....there are several hot air balloon festivals in my area...and we use to go to some in the Tulsa, OK area too! LOVE THEM!!! There is a ranch out here (more like a retreat) that has them....I can't remember if it was going to cost us $200 each or $400 each to take a ride in one....we didn't do it, not just the cost, but DH was afraid!! :biggrin: hee,hee There is the worlds largest helium balloon (that's what it is called) in Branson, MO...but everytime we go up there....they aren't going up because of wind....it only cost $25 per person, but it is tethered to the ground since it is helium. I sooo what to go up in it too! btw....LOVE PippiLong Stocking....Katelyn and I use to watch it all the time...I even bought a pet wig to make into a Pippi Long Stocking outfit (never did though) :cool: |
oh I just LOVE it! My mom lives in Albequerque NM and they have the balloon fiesta in October every year. So far EVERY Oct that shes lived there, I have been IN a best friends wedding on that week so I have not been able to go out there! I told my friends that next Oct (2009) no weddings or anything.... Im going to New Mexico!! haha I just love the hot air balloons. whenever I do go to my moms house to visit I get up in the morning and drink my coffee outside and there are usually b/t 5 - 10 balloons out every single day! To me its just an amazing sight to see! Thanks for these gorgeous pics! |
