Magazine Subscription??
 
So, anyone subscribes to any magazine? If so, why do you subscribe to it?

I am currently subscribed to Self (going to discontinue it though) and going to subscribe BusinessWeek. I love BusinessWeek because it makes me stay informed and it is just a good business magazine!!!

So, what about you?

I get Better Homes and Gardens. I enjoy gardening. They have great stories and features about that kinda of stuff as well as stories and projects.

I just get one, the national geographic. I've been getting it since 1974 and when the boys were little they got the one for kids. I just LOVE all the stories and pictures. It's such an amazing magazine.

I am subscribed to Women's Health magazine. My brother got me 2 yrs of it as a gift. I love it, they have all types of recipes and exercise tips and facts

Vegetarian Times to get variety of recipes and the latest in vegetarian news and health.
Good housekeeping magazine. I love the stories, the articles, their tips, and everything on the magazine.:)

I have Marie Claire (that was gifted to me but I'm adding on 2 more years) and Redbook also I had Elle for a year but that just ended I'm torn if I want to get it another year though?

I get Vegetarian Times because I love getting new recipes to try. I also like learning of new products or ones that I haven't tried yet.

Lucky magazine..I love their Shoe issue. I also like how they will map out shopping areas in different cities of interesse for you and tell were all the neat finds are;) Did I mention the shoe issue?? I love shoes!

Old Home Journal.. Because I have an older home that we are restoring and they have wonderful information.

Old home Interior..I want to stay true to my older home and I can find hardware and fixtures that would match my houses style. I love getting decorating Ideas to show off things that my house had, like the pocket doors and stuff like that.

I get TIME, Atlantic Monthly, Discover, and Science.

I love Atlantic Monthly--it is probably my favorite. They have some great in-depth stories, and some nice fiction too.

well I just moved into a new apt. not too long ago and decided to go magazine happy one night and ordered glamour, allure, fitness, women's health, and one more which I cannot remember. I'm pretty excited for fitness and women's health though ... I love learning new exercises and seeing some great recipes!! :)

Omg, I feel like such a magazine tart bc apparently I get so many - part of the reason is because my DANG NIECES keep having to sell mags for their schools - how can I say no to them? HOW?

Gourmet - for the food porn and recipes
Cooks Illustrated - to make me feel like a crappy cook, overall
Real Simple - to make feel like sh*t about being unorganized
Martha Stewart - to make me feel like a complete failure at most everything
InStyle - to make feel like I shouldn't wear sweats and baseball hats
W - to make me feel fat and gauche
Budget Travel - to make me feel like I should stay at the Motel 6
Town and Country - so can I see the way 1% of the world lives
Elle Decor - to view what my decor doesn't look like

So, I think for me - magazines are all about promoting low self esteem. :rolleyes: :p

I subscribed to Cosmopolitain, I actually have to renew my subscription. I'm going to subscribe to a bridal magazine too, just not sure which one yet, any reccomendations?

Real Simple (probably wont renew)
Coastal Living (just ran out)
Sail (husband's magazine)

My daughter gets:

Seventeen
Teen Vogue
Teen Cosmo
(all three ordered as part of a fund raiser- we'll probably renew only one)
National Geographic

eta- In addition I routinly purchase: Self, Allure, In Style and Veg News- sheesh I think I need to simplify my magazine needs.:p

I get quite a few magazines. There's a really cheap website I order them from. I keep them in a drawer in the kitchen table so that when I'm eating my cereal at 5:00 in the morning, I have something to read. I can't just sit there by myself and eat. I currently get:

Reader's Digest
Good Housekeeping
Ladies Home Journal (soon expired - not renewing)
Redbook
O (Oprah's magazine)
True Story (a tad bit cheesy but hey, it's something to read)
The Enquirer - yes, we subscribe! All 4 of us love it and I love doing the colored crossword in the back.
I would love to get People but it's pretty expensive. I may switch out Enquirer for People next time it's up for renewal.

We also used to get Family Handyman which is a pretty good home improvement kind of reading. I am a magazine junkie but I just really like having a little something always available to read at the kitchen table.

I do :p! Well, actually I don't "read" some of what's in them. I find they're really handy for at night when I can't concentrate on my book - but I'm not one to just lay down and sleep, so mags come in really handy then.

Plus, a lot of the books I like are 16th/17th/18th century lit. - so the mind-candy feeling of magazines is something I JUST love, to balance that out.

Plus, I gotta keep my nieces in business. Man, those fundraisers just never end! :rolleyes:

I subscribe to Cosmopolitan and Southern Living both of which make me believe I need more time, more money, more friends, more clothes, more accessories, more, More, MORE! LOL!

Ann, you can't turn away the magazine sales cause then they'll hit you with the high priced wrapping paper and the barrels of cookie dough. It's safer and cheaper to get the magazines!

I would tell them that I am Going Green...so, no wrapping paper....and cookie dough? I am trying to watch for my sugar intake and on diet!! LOL!

I'm have one issue left to come from Rachael Ray's magazine. I got an offer for a very low price (something like $10 for 10 issues) so I subscribed but I'm not renewing because it's double the price now.
I also being getting a for months a magazine I never subscribe too "Working Mother"... I don't have kids yet, do you think it might be a sign????? :D

Our house gets Canadian Living (hmm... maybe kinda like martha stewart meets... i dunno... it has receipes... articles... fashion... a great magazine) I just finished a subscription to Modern Dog and Bark and just bought a subscription to Dog Fancy. Like somone else said.. we only have these because my cousins have to raise money! but i love it!

My daughter does the magazine fundraisers and it's a whole catalog with pretty much every magazine- one of the reasons we subscribe to so many. The good part is you can usually get pretty good deals through them.

I actually missed one in my list. I also get Domino- somehow I got a free subscription. It's okay but I wont be renewing it.
