OMG...My 7 week old weighs..... OMG.. We just weighed our 7 week old on digital weight scale and he is now 15.5 lbs. Should I be concerned about his weight at this point. He goes back to pediatrician on 25th. At his 4 week appt, the pediatrician said he was a healthy boy at 12.5 lbs and that I should keep on doing whatever I am doing. He is only eating from the breast right now, as we are having a difficult time getting him to take a bottle. He does not know how to suck right for the bottle. We are working with him daily on this. He does not take pacifier either because he can not keep it in his mouth...again he does not know how to suck on it either. |
I know it's hard when you have such a young baby, but I would not be too worried at this time. I would call the pediatrician's office Monday and see if he/she or a nurse can call you back to address your concerns and also about transition from the breast. It looks to me like you're doing the right things. What an exciting time for you and baby! If you are able to measure his length accurately in centimeters, I will plot it on a pedi growth chart and let you know what percentile he falls in. The best way to do this would be to lay him on a flat surface and note where his head and heel when leg appropriately stretched are, then measure with a tape. |

Don't worry, Amelia was HUGE when she was that age too, (and I was only BF too) and she was in the 91th percentile. She finally started to balance out, she's still in a high percentile but my health visitor said she is perfectly fine. :D |

My second daughter weighed 40 pounds @ one... She is adopted from South Korea. When she was born she was 9lbs 2 ozs. When she arrived @ 4 1/2 months she weighed 23 pounds. At one year she was 40 pounds and wore a size 11 shoe, and wote size 4 T clothing. My first one was 20 pounds @ 1 year and wore 9-12 month clothes...My oldest is 5"1" tall and weighs 95 pounds. My second is now a healthy 16 year old who will be 17 on Dec. 31. She's 5'3" tall and 140 pounds. So, Don't worry. You just have good milk, it all evens out in the end... Blessings to you and your little one...:aimeeyork Baron and his Mom |
