Oh...my...gosh This morning I put gas in the car. It was $3.59. This afternoon when I drove by the gas station on my way to pick up the kids it was....$5.47?!?!?!:eek::eek: |
Are you kidding me??? |
Ours havent gotten that high but they did raise the price I quess because of Ike |
Ours jumped from $3.53 a few days ago to $3.79 yesterday and this morning they were still $3.79. We did have a friend call and say the the price was going to at least $5.00 today though...we're in Illinois. |
holy beans! that's a big price inflation... bet you're glad you tanked in the morning, huh?:p |
Texas refineries are responsible for 16-20 percent of the nations oil. They are all shut down because of Ike. I guess any excuse to raise prices will work:eek: It's hard enough for people to try to evac from the storm without gas prices going sky high!!!!!!!! |
I put gas in after I dropped the kids off and told dh to fill up (he didn't listen:mad:) yes our gas has jumped too. |
I read that there is going to be a price increase in gas beginning today due to the all the refineries shutting down because of Ike. Supposedly people are trying to fill up before the price increase. Here is an article. Gas prices surge as Ike moves in | ajc.com If you suspect price gouging, you can report it. DOE's Gas Price Watch Hotline - Web Form |
Someone from Lansing, Michigan is reporting over $5 a gallon today. |
Ours hasn't gone insane like that. But yesterday at one station around the corner it was $3.23 and today it was $3.39. I was . It's still cheaper around other stations as far as I know, but I think they lowered it like that for Sept. 11. They don't need to raise the prices NOW for a hurricane that isn't coming until the weekend that won't really have an affect on the gas for another few weeks. They already have gas IN their tanks under ground. They don't need to raise prices SO much overnight for something that is already paid for. |
I would think $5.47 is price gouging - just a little.  |
I remember on 0911 gas stations were raising their prices to try and keep people from buying it around here. There were so many people at once that they were saying they had to do something. So Im wondering if its like that. |
I think it is all "bunk"....there is no need for the prices to jump so high....I think this needs to be looked into by whoever does that sort of thing.....it seems that if there is any reason (no matter what, holiday, storm, etc)...the prices jump $1 or more....I know the refineries are in the path of the storm.....and I pray for everyone in the path...but gouging the price of gas.....shame,shame....:thumbs_do |
I heard that on the CNN news about gas prices going up so high just today in certain areas. :( I just don't know how they can get away with that. You know that's probably the same gas they had in their underground tanks yesterday so I would call raising the price that high, in such a short amount of time, gouging. :( That is so.....sad. |
here in poor little poverty stricken kentucky, it is 4.79 in most places. One dollar jump today. |
When i went to work this am it was 3.54 tonight it was 3.75 not a big jump. However on the way home the pumps were packed. I had to wait for a pump. |
Here they were telling people to fill up their tanks. We waited in a long line on Thursday. When we got there all of the regular pumps were empty and you were forced to buy more expensive gas. Today they said it was because of hurricane Ike and the oil being shut down. They said Chattanooga was about out of gas and two things would happen. They said until the hurricane is over and we see how much damage will be done to the oil fields nothing could be done. The other choice would be for the stations to buy the expensive gas and it would have to sell for $5 plus. They urged people to fill up their tanks (limit of l0 gallon placed at most stations), and wait out the hurricane. They said to drive as little as possible. |
It was ridiculous! I don't really stay updated with gas prices and all that because I don't go a lot of places bug oh my goodness! I went to a nearby town today to go out for lunch with my mom and after we were finished running around I had to get gas to head back home. IT WAS NUTS! Lines everywhere and then when I finally found a pump they were out of regular gas :O! I'm watching the news right now and in Bowling Green, KY it shot up a WHOLE DOLLAR! This is the most expensive gas has gotten here in KY and I really think everything will be DEAD until they go back down. Most gas stations ran out of gas PERIOD in the early AM today where everyone was trying to get gas before it went up. I'm talking OUT OF EVERY TYPE OF GAS. This is nuts! |
At least you still have gas! I went to 6 different stations that were all out! |
Crazy...guess I should have filled up instead of just putting $16 in...ours is $3.39..so far |
Here in Florida it is 4 something, my friend sent me a text and said it suppose to go to six dollars. My sister was saying a lot of people are going to lose their job because they don't have enough for gas plus the cost of living. It is sad. I told my sister I guess it is time to pull out the bikes. |
My dtr called me at work yesterday afternoon saying she was on empty, their gas (Myrtle Beach) had gone from $3.50 to $4.29 in one jump and was expected to go to $5.00+. She was at Sam's and the news crews were there saying all the stations were out of gas. How are people going to get to work, etc with no gas? This is absurd! Why did we put in the Alaskan Pipeline, anyway? Hey, Mike, what's up with that? Are you guys hoarding all the gas up there;)? I hope this lets up soon. What happens when the ambulances, fire trucks and police can't get any gas????? |
