OUR WEATHER - it's gone NUTS I can't believe this year - Hurricains everywhere - tornados in PA - Haiti is wiped out - Cuba had FIVE STORY HIGH WAVES ..and there are more coming  not to mention the fires every year in CA - but..... What is going on this year with the multitude of hurricains ? It's just blowing my mind..... my prayers to all to those who went thru hardship due to all these awful storms. Houston is always right in the path it seems but we've been very lucky.....not so lucky for too many people out there. :(:( Our world is getting very scary isn't it ? |
I agree Villette. We've had maybe in total 2wks worth of nice "summer" weather here in the UK and now winter has just decided to come and hit hard. Last week we had thunderstorms, rained nearly 24/7 for days, floods in some areas, torrential rain warnings for people driving. :( I remember when I left school, (gosh, 10years ago now, I suddenly feel old!), and I was on study leave for my exams. That summer was SO hot, me and my friends would lay in the garden and do our studying because it was just TOO hot to be indoors. My goddaughter, who is 7, said to be part way through their summer school break, "What's the point in us having time off if we just have to stay in while it rains" Guess she prefers being in school cuz she can play with her friends all day and rain doesn't put a stop to that. I think for xmas I will buy her a long rain mac and some wellies! :D |
Isn't it unreal ? Sometimes when I get down since my husband died ....I tell myself that so many have it SO MUCH WORSE.....Ever since Katrina and Rita - it seems like our earth is angry....so much devestation and death. It almost makes me want to stop watching the news....and I won't even GET into the crime rate everywhere - All these storms are NOT helping that either. Houston has seen such a jump in crime the last few years that it's normal to see 3 murders a day on tv. It's so sad to see the poorest places wracked in flooding and total despair. |
V, if you have any friends who are into hollistic things and the universe they might be able to shed some light on all this devastation. We are just about ending a 3 year cycle now where things are 'at thier worst'. Things are supposed to start getting better in 2009. My friend really goes into all of it and explains it well, Im not so good at explaining it, but its more like we have given ourselves bad karma for awhile but the children born a couple years ago (called indigo babies) are here to fix 'us' as a universe, bring light and peace to humans and the weather patterns, give us good karma. If you remotely believe in that kind of stuff, look for better days ahead. :) |

Blame El Nino! (Or el presidente, like so many others do.) |
We're having some intense thunderstorms in PA today. Hope everyone is safe from the weather. |

I am praying for the safety of everyone in the way of these terrible storms. I hope that they stop soon or at least run out of all of their energy and devistating effects. Hopefully the holistic forcast is true. With the increase in all of the volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes we have had over the last several years... I wonder if Heaven isn't upset with all of us for allowing a very few people to remove him from the schools and try to remove him from our everyday lives. Just a thought. Hugs to all who are affected by or worried about these terrible storms. |
I read the information on the Indigo Children. I am not sure what to think about that. I do hope that our kids take better care of the planet than we have. And that the horrible weather conditions subside in 2009. |
In response to grammatoall (forgot to quote you): Not just weather getting better, but people believe the world will right itself again, the economy will get better, people's attitudes will improve, optimism will hedge out pessism, crime rates should drop, death rate should drop a bit, relationships will become stronger, with friends, family and your sig other. People's faith will become stronger, morals and ethics higher. They say that overall the planet will be a nicer place to live again, right now we are in the end of the downward swing, we are at the bottom. Of course not all believe in that stuff, Im not even sure if I do. I just need to hold out hope that things will get better all around, the destruction, devastation and feeling of helplessness by so many all over the planet makes me sad. I can't imagine that it will get worse than this. |

I totally agree V! Things are getting REALLY crazy....and not to mention scary  I tell you, these hurricanes are just out there waiting in line! We are right by ya girl, and we've got to really keep an eye on Ike  I hope it doesn't come here, but then again, I don't want ANYONE getting hit by it :( |

It is scary how weird the weather has been. :( Like Layla 17 said, we had a thunderstorm here in PA this morning that @ 9:30 a.m. it looked like it was 9:30 p.m. outside, it was that dark. Lots of rain, lightening. And V, yes it does seem like we've had much more tornado warnings than normal in PA this year. Scares me cause we don't have a basement. Everyone in the possible path of Hurricane Ike, please take care.... It now looks like it could hit Central Texas. |
It's simply called Global Warming! We have polluted our earth, punching holes in the ozone layer and if things are not cleaned up immediately, the weather and everything else (the domino affect) will only get worse. |
I agree with both of those things, I think we are destroying the earth. I've changed to reusable grocery bags this year and only put the brown paper lunch bags in my small trash cans. I try to compost and recycle! Be careful Villette, I thought I heard it was coming to Houston! We had Tornado warnings once or twice a week this past spring. and now it feels like fall here! Very strange and bizarre! Praying for you all in Texas and the gulf coast! |

I liked everyones replys :thumbup: I almost want to agree we've hit bottom but then - we have countries all around us that are far worse off than we are :(....but still - this weather is just NUTS ......and so are the news reporters broadcasting all this crazy weather lol Last week I saw one (A reporter) race to a puddle with his camera guy and point out how the streets were flooding (not) - POINT to a downed palm branch and say how the trees were being blown over (not) - those guys need to CHILL |
I heard you V, the day before yesterday was so hot here,(so glad we weren't here) and last night was so cold and today back to cool so loco weather  |

i think i suffer from post traumatic stress disorder... you see, my hometown (where i was living at the time) Slidell, LA, was hit hard by Katrina.. i was a junior in high school (Salmen High) and VERY involved. my house LITERALLY was ONE INCH from flooding. my neighbors, on the other hand, werent so lucky. my school which was not but like 10 blocks from my house flooded nine feet. and even though we didnt get hit by the flooding, we got looted. and i know that my house didnt get flooding and that i shouldnt STILL be feeling these feelings, but..... i lived there.... i saw it everyday. the smell is something i will never foreget. the students that did return went to night school at another high school and then switched to a junior high school in the day time. til this day i cry about it. my old high school still isnt rebuilt and wont be in the process until 2011. now that Gustav passed by.. some people still dont have power. my school was delayed a whole week. it definatly brought back some feelings. i have pictures if anybody would like to see... thanks for letting me vent :) |

You are not mandated to FEEL a certain way because you did not lose your house or whatnot, you feel how you feel and its OK to feel that way. Maybe when the time is right you can move away from your area and try to start over somewhere else in the country where you feel may bring you more peace of mind regarding the weather and the bad memories you have. Personally I think you are a Katrina survivor and thriver, I admire you! :) |
