Question for moms with skin babies Well, where do I start???? Alex my skin baby (7 months old) started sleeping all through the night ever science he was 2 months old, so I never had problems with him sleeping in the night. He usually goes to sleep at 8-9 pm and sleeps all the way through to 7am. During the day it's another fish food...LOL He has about 3-4 naps a day. This is where my problem comes in. Every single time he gets tired during the day and needs a nap he cries and moans until I lay down with him and put him to sleep. I have tried a couple of things like putting him into his bedroom and make the room dark but he still cries untill I go and pick him up. He is the happiest baby ever and I have never had any other problems with him, but I really need to resolve this problem as now I need to take myself 3-4 naps a day too because of him.LOL I am saying this because if I put him to sleep takes me only like 5 minutes but then I can't get up myself because if I do he wakes up instantly. Also just one more thing. He has been constipated for 3-4 days now and I have tried giving him watter with orange juice and also watter with suggar but it doesn't seem to work very well. What ealse can I try him with? If nothing ealse works untill monday I will ask our doctor. Thanks girls Maria |
My daughterwas a lot like that! She would sleep great during the day but the minute you either put her down or got up from laying near her she would wake up screaming and the vicious cycle continued! It was torture. So one day I just sucked it up and put her in her crib and let her scream! It took a few days and major strength on my part to not go and get her but then there was never a problem again! Its like anything else know matter how young they are they become very familiar w/what they want very quickly! Also, does your son use a pacifier? That might help sooth him if he doesn't already! Good luck and be strong momma - you'll get it!!!! |
aww he's got moma wrapped around he little finger..lol our first one was like that and he is now over 3 and still cant sleep with out us my new son is a little older then yours he is 8 months old and i made sure he didnt need me to sleep..lol..he does pretty good at night going to sleep but in the last month or so (7 months old) he really fights taking naps..so i make sure his diaper is dry, he has a full belly and he is A-ok and then i let him cry..he will be ok.... |

Hey girl! So my mom is practically raising my cousin's baby London and she just had to break this same bad habit. London wouldn't go to sleep for anyone but my mom and my mom had to lay down with her and stay there for the whole nap. So what she did was rock London to sleep and then put her in her baby bed with the radio on. I admit for the first week it was a REAL struggle for her and there were days when London REALLY kicked up a fuss. But then she kinda got used to her bed. She still has to be rocked to sleep but at least now you can take her and lay her down in her baby bed to sleep. Now we just have to work on breaking her into sleeping in her own bed at night! |
Maria .... ... this might sound cruel but put him down and let him scream .... :( Tiffany did this too back then and it broke my heart but it was also VERY exhausting for me ..... She used to scream all the time too and all I did was go in there talk to her .... not picking her up ... just make her calm down and leave the room .... it will happen sooner or later .....;) And for being constipated ... have you tried Applejuice ... works for mine .... Good Luck Sweets and hang in there .....;) |

I agree, once you lay him down and don't go back he will learn very quickly that you won't come to his every cry. Aslo a lil kayro syrup in some water will help him move his bowels. (about two tablespoons in 4 oz warm water) I had to do this every few days with my youngest son because he was always constipated. |
Actually I just thought of something for the nap issue. Do you have a swing? The swing is generally the only way I can get Tess to nap. If she takes a nap anywhere else during the day she usually wakes up tired and cranky after only 10-15 minutes. So I usually put her in her swing and she takes a nap for a good 2-3 hours in the afternoon (and she usually takes a quick 20 minutes nap in the late morning). If she has trouble falling a sleep while in her swing I put the Baby einstein mozart DVD in her dvd player and it plays nothing but classical music and shows picture images and I hate to say this because I know it wasnt designed for this purpose it but it usually puts her to sleep :p |
Thanks everyone, but I don't know how much I can let him cry, because I have let him cry before so he can get used to it. The most amount of time I have let him cry was almost 20 min but then I had to pick him up because he was so agitated and he got all sweaty from crying...poor little thing!!! I know he's got me all wrapped up around his finger but if the answer is just to ''let him cry it out'' then I guess I will have to be strong!!! LOL |

I will try that and see how it goes, thanks Shana. Unfortunately for me every single time I put music on, classical or not all he wants to do is smile, he never falls asleep with music...I have tried him loads of times. |

I have the same problem with Amelia at night, she will sleep through but I can't get her down initially unless I lay on the bed with her till I know she is in a deep sleep. I spoke to my health visitor about it because I was physically drained, I would be fighting her to go to bed from 8-9 till maybe 2-3am. :( We\'ve been refered to Sleep Clinic ran by a health visitor and they give you the support and advice and new approaches to deal with the issue. |
Oh, and constipation... I went to baby massage classes with Amelia when she was 3months and one of the massages is great for getting the bowel moving. Give your baby a bath A warm bath can make your baby relax so the stools are passed more easily. Massage your baby\'s tummy Start at the belly button and then massage outwards in circles in a clockwise direction, like making petals on a flower. Some oil or cream on your fingers can also help, using any kind of light cooking oil with do or baby oil or lotion if you have some. Only continue if your baby enjoys the massage and is comfortable and relaxed. Move your baby\'s legs in a cycling motion Place your baby so he or she is lying on their back. Hold their legs and turn them gently in a quick cycling motion. This will make the stomach muscles move and, in turn, put gentle pressure on the intestines to make them move. Cooled boiled water is also good for constipation. Amelia doesn\'t suffer from it much being BF still but on the odd occassions she has been this has worked fine for us. I believe in trying a natural method before resorting to meds, etc. |
Gavin is only 6 weeks so not near as old as yours. Gavin will sleep great as long as we are holding him. The minute we put him in his crib he wakes up instantly. I don\'t get it. I have let him cry and hubby can not stand to hear a crying baby. We have got to stop picking him and just let him cry it out or it is just going to get worse. We have had a radio playing in his room ever since he started sleeping in his crib at 2 weeks every night and at naps. However, naps are usually in his swing in the living room with the tv on. I think the noise helps cover up other sounds as not to wake him. Anyway, when he wakes up after putting him in the crib I will make the shhhhh sound over and over again and pat him on his leg and that sometimes will work to get him to sleep. Us moms just have to be strong and let them cry until they get it. |
