Muscle spasms! Arrrrgh! How do you make one go away!? For the past 2 days, I have been having pretty constant spasms in the muscle right above my knee (the Sartorius muscle for you Anatomy buffs;)) and it is driving me NUTS! No amount of stretching or changing positions or moving it or walking seems to make any difference and it is getting on my last nerve! :idontknow I couldn't even go to sleep last night because of it and finally took one of the muscle relaxers from my back injury a few years ago just to make it stop so I could sleep.:( It looks like a horse does when their muscles are twitching. :confuse2: Does anyone have any clue if there is anything I can do to make it stop? :questione |
Are they painful spasms? Oh, Misty...I feel bad for you! Don't have a remedy so just hoping that they go away! Have you tried a heating pad? |
No, they are not painful...just a pain in my butt! It's 'twitching' if you will about every 20-30 seconds. I did try heat--used one of those stick on thermal patches, but it didn't help. Heck, it was still doing it while the dang patch was on! :( I even ate two bananas thinking *maybe* the potassium would help, but no luck. |
I think I read somewhere that muscle spasms are a sign of dehydration. Drink lots of water and hopefully it will stop. also it could be a lack of lactic acid. Try drinking some milk, see if that helps! :) |
Make sure you are getting enough calcium and magnesium. You could also try drinking some tonic water. It contains quinine which is great for muscle twitching. |
Hmm...dehydration and lactic acid...I never considered that. I will definately give those suggestions a try. I'm pretty much up for trying ganything at this point. |

Are you getting enough magnesium? Oh, spasms are so irritating! I'd get some magnesium in my diet right away, hydrate. Also, you are getting enough calcium too, right? :) |

Put some gin and a couple of limes in that tonic water. The twitching might not stop, but at least you won't care!! :martini: |
