Hurricane's Coming!!!
 
Hey guys! Just wanted to pop in and wish ya'll luck, for anyone in his path! We are battoning down the hatches and getting ready down here...

I am not on the coast, in Baton Rouge, but WOW are we in for it with the evacuations here!

We are not leaving home, but hosting a family who is being ran out of New Orleans... they are leaving in the middle of the night to try to make it here!

got the generator ready, temp AC ready.... and more food than you can imagine.. haha.. getting ready for the "hurricane party".. YES, we really have them...

kids are excited, no school Monday or Tuesday... and I am out of work for 2 weeks so we can party for days.. I had a robotic hysterectomy on Tuesday so I am homebound anyway, but hey, as long as I have AC, I am good to go!

good luck everyone, and stay out of harm's way!

Probably wont have internet after he hits but who knows.. I didnt lose power at al during Katrina so I might get lucky...

I'm in Monroe, and we even get evacuees this far North! I pray this is nothing like Katrina.......

My parents are in Lafayette. They have been boarding up the windows. I used to love hurricanes when I was a kid. I was too dumb to understand how dangerous they were.

YOU and me both! Our city has never been the same since Katrina, and New Orleans is in such shambles already...

This one... I dont have a good feeling about. And we are in the Keys.

Last one - I told everyone they wouldnt even notice it and this was true. This one - bad feeling. :thumbdown

Hurricane parties are actually fun... a good way to stop worrying and watching it approach us! We have nothing better to do, no one is at work, all the kids are home, and we all just hang out, play cards, games, and of couse, cook EVERYTHING in the freezer... lol

Oh, gosh, I'm really praying that it will just pass over you without any damage or anything else. I know what it's like (WHAT am I saying???? I have NO IDEA...), but when we had floods in N. CA and we'd get evacuated from our homes, we'd just go to another friend's home that hadn't been evac'd yet.....and it was like a big slumber party with sleeping bags and Coleman stoves and lanterns and battery run cd players. Kinda fun...til we all got evacuated from THERE too:(. You do kind of get down to the REAL things in life instead of all the ratrace out there, dontcha?

I think I'll pass on the hurricanes though, LOL...kinda like East coasters will pass on the earthquakes (I'll pass on those too, but I don't have a choice:rolleyes:).

By the way what is a robotic hyst? I had a full abdominal hyst in 06....I hurt, but felt normal after about 2 weeks. It wasn't nearly as bad as everyone told me it would be,,,take care of yourself and get plenty of rest!

thank you!!!! we are kinda used to it down here but you never get used to the fear of what can really happen here.... my babies will be here with me and my mom is next door so I feel ok for her, I can watch after her too :)

Prayers for a safe outcome from the storms for everyone. Our kids are in Mobile, we're calling everyday.
Daughter had the DaVinci robotic Hyst last year. She was feeling pretty good after one week and back to her schedule by 2 wks. It was sure different from when I had mine 18 yrs ago and was totally out of the program for 6 wks.

My cousin lives in the heart of New Orleans and her house was nearly destroyed in Katrina. She still has many repairs to be done, but it is livable now. She is coming up here to MI tomorrow and staying for a few days to evac. I told her not to go back after katrina.

My best friend lives there too, RIGHT near the river.. I am so scared the levy will break on his side. he is coming to my house sometime in the night.. the traffic flow is so bad right now he is scared to leave... Good luck to your cousin... I tried to talk my BF into leaving too but he is a die hard and will not leave his home. We are STILL not through fixing his house from the last one either... MAN.. here we go again...

I use to have fun with the gurrican parties.....now with a 5 year old and 14 day old at home and a teen off in a different part of Baton Rouge has me so stressed. I am not sure what we are going to do yer, will have to decide by tomorrow. My husband is a electrician and I don't want to be away from him, he wants to send us off..........so? Y'all be safe!!

we are good as of now... starting to rain and see some wind but not so bad... sure we wont get much sleep tonite :) will be watching....
We will most likely lose power by the morning so wont have internet for a while :(

I am praying that everyone will be safe. We live in southeast Texas about 60 miles or less from the Louisiana border and about 60 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. We are expecting tropical storm conditions and lots of rain here starting night and tomorrow.
