Can we say cold-hearted and ungrateful? A couple years ago a friend of mine had a litter of chi puppies. There were two of them. When they were about 6 - 8 weeks old (I can't remember exactly, they were eating soft food by themselves) I puppysat for her. My MIL saw the puppies and had a FIT for one. I talked to friend, told her MIL was widowed, on a fixed income, etc. Long story short, she offered us a puppy at a VERY reduced priced (which DH and I paid) and we assured her we would help with any other financial obligations that came with puppy (food, toys, vet, etc). So guess what....we had to go to MIL's Saturday and find out that she has GIVEN THE CHI AWAY! And the "good" reason she had for giving her away is that she has decided she wants a pomeranian and DH's sister and BIL said they'd buy her one.:eek::eek::mad: You know, I love my DH. I really do. But if I had gotten to really know his mother before we got married, I don't think I would have married him. I hate to say that, but its the truth. I have never in my life. |
There just aren't words to describe her! Well, she's not going to change.....not much you can do except don't get too involved with her and don't let her reel you into to her dramas!!! I would be upset, too!! |
Boy, I am feel for you. I was really lucky and had 2 of the best mil in the world. I still had a really good relationship with my ex-mil and she "sided" with me when I got divorced from her son! I would just take one day at a time and don't go out of your way to do things for her. Just let her be. I know that it will be hard, but in the long run, your stress level will go down quite a bit as well as blood pressure.:D |
Wow she could have at least told you of her plan before giving him away. I wonder how long she will keep the pom. |
Well - it looks like you just bought someone a dog....have you asked your Mil for reimbursement for what you shelled out ? I probably would just to see what she says..... I hope the puppy is at least in a good home....that's pretty sad she didn't tell you after all you did for her. |
How ungrateful. At the very least she should have retunred him to you so you could sell him. I would be upset also. I hope the Pom bites her |
It isn't about the money. I don't care about being reimbursed for that. Truthfully, DH is right, the chi is probably in a better home now. The lady she gave her to LOVES dogs, spoils them rotten. It just makes me mad that she could just give her away like that. And for a POM? Just last week I made a comment that I though Susie (the chi) would look cute with long hair and the MIL was all, "Oh no! I won't ever have another long haired dog. That's too much trouble and upkeep." So now she wants a Pom? Did she forget what they look like? Last I checked they had long hair. I just get mad because of their (and I mean his entire immediate family) lack of compassion for animals and the way they regard them as objects. I can't stand hearing, "It ain't nothin' but a dog." I think my patience has just run out over the past few years. |
