A few years ago in Vegas, I went to an Asian market and bought this item: Nutra - Slim Dieters Tea, 30 bag box I experience a lot of cramping and bowel movement but it is supposed to cleanse the body. |
You want to go to a really good health food store. That cares vitamins and such that are natural ingredients. Its like vitamins if you don't get one that is soluable it doesn't do much good to your system. It needs to be agreeable with our system. If you go to a natural food store they have cleansers /detox for your system that doesn't harm you. They do help and where I went even had sample packages. That way you can try them to make sure you don't have problems. This was one you took daily and I have IBS it was fine. In fact I'm on a regular cycle and I don't think I have ever been not even as a child. So I only have good things to tell you about it. |
Chattiesmom- Did you ever decide to take a colon cleanser? I'm looking into it but I've seen some pretty disgusting testimonial pictures that are worrying me! I'm curious to hear some first hand experience. |
This is what I'm taking right now. Sulflax Today was my second day and it says 5 to 7 days. You mix 1 teaspoon in a cup of hot water and drink before breakfast. I have been having some major problems with eczema (at least that's what the dermatologist said it was, but it doesn't look like any of the pictures I've seen. Mine looks like chicken pox and are not in any clusters. Anyway, it seems most of the skin problems and even cancer is due to toxin build up in the body. I'll let you know what happens to me in a few days. :p |
I just watched some doctor show and a viewer asked about this....the panel of doctors said that if you eat healthy, drink plenty of water, etc. your colon will cleanse itself. I don't know....I always read up on it online and found some site (can't seem to find it now) that did reviews on all the cleansing products out there...I think the over all advice...eat a good diet and/or visit your local health food store. |

Again...I have never tried any of the products...but have read so many reviews and have had different health professionals advise against...... |
Well, this is a switch. Usually, it's dog poo being discussed here :p. Seriously, though, from what I've read, toxins building up in the body are responsible for many ailments. With the skin being an elimination organ, it's not surprising that toxic build-up in the body would manifest itself as skin problems. I've used Puritan's Pride colon cleanser in the past and found it to be minimally effective. However, I did start using flaxseed oil a few months ago (not for colon cleansing) and have noticed I get the same results with it as many of the benefits that colon cleanse makers claim their products provide. If you take too much it can have a laxative effect but about 1 tbsp. daily seems about right for most people. It is most commonly thought of as being good for the skin and hair but has many other health benefits. My wife has been able to get off post-menopausal hormones by using flaxseed oil. I also give my dogs about 1/2 tsp. daily and have noticed a definite improvement in their coats. I'm still concerned about toxins that may remain but am considering using montmorillionite clay for that. It is one of the 'edible' clays and binds with mycotoxins in the intestines so they may be eliminated. The Russians laced candy bars with it following Chernobyl to help clean the radiation from people's bodies in that area. It can be found in several dry dog foods including Nature's Variety, Nature's Logic (which I use) and Halo. |
Has anyone heard of Triphala? My best friend turned me on to this herbal supplement recently. I've been taking it daily for almost a week now and let me tell you, I haven't pooped this regularly in years! I know that is certainly TMI for most people but if you've ever lived with IBS, you can understand! ;) LOL She also has me trying Ashwaganda (the liquid form) but that's a discussion for a whole 'nother subject. Google "Triphala" or check out these couple of links I posted. There's lots more info out there though. I got mine at a health food store. One more thing.... she said that University of Texas did some extensive research on this and have nothing negative to say at all. Very interesting thread. I have been on a colon cleansing product for over two years now and can't be without it. I also get over 35g of fiber a day so my colon should be squeaky clean..lol. I am a big fan of Dr. Natura and I only now get the Colonix intestinal cleanser (which I take every morning with 1 cup of light Cranberry juice). This alone will give you about 6-8 grams of fiber to start the day. One canister will last you a month and if you get 3 canisters there is free shipping. I talked to my doctor about this and nutrionist and they did not have a problem with me taking this. Oh and trust me I did not get any of those disgusting things out of me that they show on the websites. Sometimes I wonder about that.:confused::rolleyes: |
I have never used any of these products, but I do use probiotics every day. They help keep me regular. Also, use flax seed. It has a lot of fiber. |
I wouldn't recommend it. I actually did the one from GNC. But I already eat a high fiber diet and have a few regular bowel movements...hehe.. I am glad you all know now. Eating a HIGH FIBER diet will do the same thing without removing all the healthy baceteria. When I used the product from GNC it just make me go to the restroom even more and then the cramping begun. I stopped after a few days. They always have these gimics out there but I am not sure they are really safe. :p |
