Are there any legit "work at home" jobs? That you acyually make money at? Anyone know of any???? |
Transcription, word processing, medical office billing, run an online store of some sort. |
I've thought about medical transcription. I have a friend who does that. You don't make alot of money, but I work at home two days a week with my company and I love it. I would love being home full time! |
I am interested in this too. I would love to be at home for Bre and the pups..:thumbup::thumbup: |
I would soooo love to work from home! It's a dream I have. Maybe someday I'll figure something out. But being single, it would have to bring in enough money to pay all the bills. |
My friend went to school to be a medical transcriptionist and she found that you have to be experienced to get the good paying jobs. You have to start out making pennies per line first and have to drive at first to the company who contracts out the work. I thought of doing this also and thought it would be a great second career. I now have heard that most of these at home computer jobs are now being out-sourced like most of the other well paying jobs that have medical insurance. Even Kim Komando (computer talk radio show) said breifly on her show that these jobs will probably be gone in the next 5 years. I personally think that out-sourcing sould be illegal. |
There are certain call center jobs that are outsourced to work at home employees but they have to be hiring in your area and you have to meet certain requirements like having a dedicated land line phone, ect before applying. I can't remember any links off the top of my head. I was checking into this too and it seems like most out there are scams in my experience. |
Check out Clark Howard's website. His staff has researched "work from home" opportunities and he has a list of ones that are legitimate. |

I also heard that most jobs like this were being out-sourced....:( |
I have had my own consulting business for 12 years now. I am a nurse by background and do health care consulting. I work out of my home but am on the road a lot as well. I can tell you that being single and working from home can be very isolating. It is something to consider. 3 years or so into my business I took an evening job making minimum wage at a fabric and craft store just to get some human contact and be around people with similar interests. The other thing to consider with self-employment is the fact that it may be hard to take a vacation. When you get sick, there is no sick leave and probably no one to fill in for you. Income can be inconsistent. If you have a good month you hang on to the extra bucks because next month may not be so good. Personally, I have found a happy medium. I now work full time for corporate America and have my consulting business part time. I get to work from home a couple of days a week and get full benefits. I also earn a consistent income. |
Very good points! But since I breed....vacations are out of the picture for me :) I do not trust anyone to care for my babies (I know I'm anal) I am married so I have a hubby around to bug me...LOL I was thinking as something to do if I were to lose my current job (economy) or for when I CAN quit on my own...as some little extra. And I sure if I run accross anything that seems to good to be true....than it probably is. :) But gosh I would soooooooooooo love to work from home!!! Quote:

Hi ya I use to do West from home and it is a call center but the calls come to you, you do not have to call anyone. It is pretty neat. You set your own schedule and if you ever need someone to take some hours for you you can post them on a forum I belong too. Everyone is really helpful there. Here is the link to west West at Home: Become an Agent also you do have to have a line dedicated to your job with no features, some people use their phone but feel better getting a new line. I did. |
