How do you know you broke your foot? Okay long story short, I went for a ride last Fiday morning and hit hard a steel pole sticking out of the ground burried in some bushes. My foot is swollen and nothng will bring the swelling down. It's a dark purple still and even icing and 500mgs of motrin isn't helping. I know most foot injuries they will just give you an ace bandage and say stay off it. But with me taking my husband too and from classes I can't. Quess my cheap soul wants to know if it's been this long should I go in? I can't afford another bill, not with us leaving to go DC for his treatment next Monday. sigh. anyone know how you can tell? or helpful advice. ty |
My guess is that in your heart you know that it has been long enough to see an improvement. Guess I wouldn't put off the inevitable. Hopefully one of the many nurses we have on this board will answer and give you a bit of advice. Sorry for you pain. Joanne |
Hi, my name is Mendi and I am an LPN. I know how expensive it is to see a Dr. or even go to the ER but you really need to get that foot x-rayed. Are you able to move it at all or even your toes. My opinion is if it was just jammed or even sprained the swelling would have gone down by now. Please think about it. I know its expensive but your health is worth it. Let me know what you decide and what you find out if you decide to see a Dr. Good Luck, Mendi:nursing: |
Okay I can bend the toes and the ankle alittle But not much and when I walk my middle toe curls under, and I get shock wave like pains up my leg. it's really badly swollen, I'm kinda of worried. Was hoping to last til college med opens so i can go there but that's going to be two weeks. sigh,I'm going to ask around to borrow some crutches I quess. ty |
Hon, if it is broke, 2 wks. will be too late. It will be healing and they will have to re-break it if is is actually broken. That will cost much more than going and getting an x-ray. Your pain does not sound good. The consequences of not taking care of yourself at your age can have dire results for your elderly years. I should know. I'm there. Joanne |
Two weeks is a long time. If it is broken the longer you wait it will only get worse. Right now it could just be set and casted (if broken) but if you wait it may even require surgery $$$$. Of course i'm no Dr. thats just my professional opinion. I really wish you would reconsider and go in the morning. Mendi |
