Do you think the newspapers sometimes distort things? The Biker and the Lion A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A New York Times reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter says, "Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life." The biker replies, "Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right." The reporter says, "Well, I'm a journalist from the New York Times, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have? " The biker replies, "I'm a U. S. Marine and a Republican." The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on front page: "U. S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH" _____________________________________ |
Ha ha. I think you may have a point! |
The Template If God announced today that the world would end tomorrow the NY Times either would not print the story because it wasn't "well sourced" or the headline would read "WORLD TO END TOMORROW, U.S. TO BLAME" I don't think there's any question that the media has a "template" and any story they tell has to fit the template. Once the story is picked up it will only be reported in one "action line," for the story to get attention it must move in the direction they want to report. I think the fact that they reported secret troop movements says everything. Someone knew when they leaked the information that the media would endanger our troops to meet their own objectives. I think this is the main reason that as consumers we're leaving the newspapers and nightly news in droves. Their readership and viewership has been in a steady decline for several years. |
You ought to read the Arizona Republic!!! Talk about swaying the news!!! I only use their publication in my kennel!!LOL Thats all its good for. |
Hahaha,so true! And yes, the newspaper does distort information. Some will type anything just to get sales. |
