Awww yall put a smile on my face after a really really sucky day! Our hospital was 17 nurses short today:(

One of my nurses just didnt come in..and said oh yeah i over slept and took some medicine..yeah i dont think i am coming in!! This was 30 min after she should have been there. If she had called in when she took the medicine they may have been able to call someone else in:mad:

The day just got worse from there on out! We have 1250 patients and in the big scheme of things 17 nurses short..well it could have been worse.

so thanks for lifting my spirits!
I am whooped and have to do it again tomorrow...SOOOOOO I am off to bed.

So if any of you are thinking about a career change and would like to become a nurse...we need you!!! :D

Well I can't help you in Florida but can in Ohio, lol! After my youngest starts kdgtn in '09 I am going to nursing school. I took my NET in 1998 when I was preggo with my 1st son, and passed and accepted. But having a child changed so many plans. I ended up not going that next year and then life happened for the next 10 yrs and here I am, lol! still haven't made it to nursing school. :( But I am going hopefully in '09 or maybe '10, just depends on the waiting list, plus I have to re-take the NET. Hopefully I haven't forgot to much, lol! I was a STNA with 10 yrs exp so hopefully that will have kept my mind fresh. Though I haven't worked in 3 yrs and have lost my STNA certification due to not keeping my yearly hours UTD. I should've at least went PRN as I was working for the county and had good benefits. Dumb on my part for sure, lol!:rolleyes:

I hope your day got better, I know how just 1 person not coming in can throw a whole floor/section off but 17!! I feel for you all who did come in. That one nurse probably had a Sat. morning hangover from the sounds of it. ;) calling after your supposed to be there and then making a further excuse not to come in usually points to that, when she could've said hey I'm running late, I'll be there asap! I've seen it happen to many times with our nurses/STNA's.
