Skinbabies wierd rash? My daughter went away to girlscout camp and came home with a wierd rash. Its on 90% of her body and I dont know what it is. The camp nurse said its not chicken pox, poison ivy or poison oak. They decided it was a heat rash(100 here during the day) but I dont know, it has gotten worse sinces shes been home. I put her to bed sinces she so tired but tomorrow morning Im giving her a baking soda bath and if it doesnt clear up by 1pm Im taking her to the Dr. Any suggestions what would cause a rash on a 9yr old? Or how to stop it from hurting her? To me it looks like a horrible cause of zits in clustters. |
Could you post an image? There are so many things it could be. Is it hives? Does it itch? If it does and she can't stand it, have her rub lightly with the palm of her hand instead of scratching. That will give her some relief but not cause it to bleed. Scratching can cause so many more problems. She could have been exposed to something she is allergic to. Did she use and cream, lotion or anything like that from one of the others where she was? My granddaughter used to get rashes like that when she was little. I put oatmeal in a cheesecloth and put it in her bath with her. Sometimes it helped and sometimes not. Sorry if too many questions. LOL |
I think their is a virus called Fifth's disease that is a rash maybe check into that, I think a heat rash is tiny little dots not clusters. I would call doctor and ask if you can give ger benydryl to see if that clears it up it would point to some type of allergy. Hope she feels better soon. |
Sounds like fifths disease to me. My kids had it about 4 years ago, and roseola just after that  At least we got 2 common childhood rashes out of the way all at once, lol! I would do a search on that, if it isnt, check out scarlet fever. My son had it without any symptoms of strep. |
It could be a bacterial infection. Either way I'd take her to a Dr. since it seems to be getting worse. |
I gave her a bath in baking soda and let her spend the day laying around in her soft bath robe. It doesnt seem to be spreading still but it hasnt gone away. Id post pictures but she threw a FIT when I came near her with the camerea. It doesnt seem to be fifth disease by the pix I could find but she did have a fever and what I thought was a cold 2 weeks ago. Unfortuntally my medical coverage only lets me take her to the Emergancy room on Sat. and Sundays so Im putting it off going till a change happens. I hope she gets up tomorrow with less so we dont have to go. Thanks for the help guys Im looking more up as so as Im off here. |
Just now seeing this but I suggest checking out WebMD.com. The first thing I would have suggested also was Fifth Disease but there's also a Sixth Disease that is just slightly different. I don't know but maybe the rash looks slightly different. I still think it's one of those and there is really nothing that can be done for them. If I remember right from when my kids were younger, this is something that has no "medicine treatment". There are quite a few things though that have a rash associated with it so check out WebMD.com to see if there are any pictures more similar to her's. Good luck! |
Try Aveeno Oatmeal baths! If it is heat rash it will help with any itching. The bad things with rashes if the doctor or nurse knows it is not poison oak or ivy they will almost always say it is contact dermatitis. At least that is what they always tell me. But let her soak in the oatmeal bath it will sooth the skin thats irritated and also I use one of the packets and make a paste and just put it on the most irritated parts, I find it helps with the itching and when she is done soaking just shower it off Hope this helps! |
