Saw the thread about a meetup Saturday 7/18 at Fort Desota in St. Pete and thought I'd post some pictures we made there a few weeks ago. More pictures are coming. Scooter absolutely loves it there and has been going since he was a puppy!

Don't have any idea what kind of dog that is in picture #3. I called it a monkey dog. Sweet, but strange!!

That looks like sooo much fun!! I wish I was closer to the ocean!!

Edit: And that is one strange looking dog in pic #3 on the second set....wow what is that thing I wonder?!

Wow how I miss the beach after looking at your pictures. The dogs look like they are having fun.

I don't know, it's eyes sort of bugged out and it had these wild hairs sticking out all over his body. The feet were white with a very smooth covering of fur. He sort of creeped me out, but when I finally got up the nerve to pet him, he was actually very sweet. I have no idea what you would have to mix to get another one like him though!

I believe that "monkey" dog is a mix between either the Mexan Hairless or the Chinese Crested, and a Chihuahua. Very cute dog, but at the same time, as you say, very strange. :)
I love the beach pictures. I'd be so afraid to let mine off leash with all the big guys running around.

I'm the same way. Scooter is "NEVER" off the leash when I have him there. There are many, many big dogs, German Shephards, Great Danes, Pitt Bulls, etc., and although I've never seen a real "fight", I refuse to take that chance. Scooter usually lays under my chair in the shade, unless I've had him out in the water....then he likes to dig in the sand when he gets back on the beach. It's really funny when he starts doing the Yorkie dance and slinging sand everywhere!!

Unfortunately, the meetup for this weekend was cancelled. :(

By the way, I this I was at Ft. Desoto the same weekend you were! From your last pic with all the dogs, I totally recognise those great danes...I think they belonged to two girls...they had like 4 great danes, 2 weimaraners, and one other big dog. lol

Yes!!! There were so many we thought there must have been a Great Dane Club meeting there!! LOL I can't believe that you were there. I was afraid the meet up might have been canceled because of all the rain. Bill and I are going to try to go over tomorrow if the weather will hold. I'm not holding my breath though!

I love Fort Desota...we've been there a few times and it's the most beautiful beach and so secluded.
