Im sending a wal mart card too. That way no shipping charges and they can pick things they like. Everyone on here is so sweet. |
Gift cards are a great idea. J is pretty laid back and doesn't care, but S is big time into picking things out. She loves feeling like a grown up! I don't have a problem taking them to wal-mart at all. Its only about 7 miles from my house and I have to go there myself at least once a week anyway. |
Awww that is so sad. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember (my whole family is) and my mom really doesn't know any different as far as cooking healthy. Thankfully now that I'm out on my own I've started eating on a plan and exercising and I'm loosing, but I can still remember how hard that was on my when I was little. Aerrica if you'll PM me your address I'd love to help out with a giftcard so that they can get new backpacks or something. This thread makes me soooooo proud of my YT family. |
What a fantastic idea that Zaknnana had about the WalMart gift cards. Since Aerrica is willing to do the shopping with the kids, I'll be glad to send $$ for a gift card too. I would much rather know that every cent I can send will be spent on things for the kids and not postage. Not only that, Little "S" needs her some Hannah Montanta school stuff so she can be a cool kid, too. Please send me your email for paypal. |
I'll send a gift card too if you could please pm me your address. |
Okay... just got back from shopping and I was able to get everything on "J" 's supply list.... Cindy (Chattiesmom) is going to pick up the supplies for the little girl. :) I picked out an outfit for each of them, but now that I have them home, I'm wondering about the sizes.... J's will likely be alright, but S's may be much too big for her. So I'm thinking I'll take them both back and grab a gift card instead since it looks like they're going to get to go shopping!! YAY!! Just need an address to mail these out to and we'll be all set on this end! :) |

Wow! What support. I am a teacher in a publice school and see this kind of thing more than you would think ( it's so sad). You might want to check with the school where the children go and see if they have a family resource center. The one at our school has immediate resources, clothes, supplies, eye glasses etc. This might be away to help, while the wonderful people at YT rally. |
I just realized that I can buy the gift card online. Nice because our Walmart is a bit, out of my way. |
I think the 'gift card' is a super idea, seeing the money all goes to shopping and not the high cost of postage. Please pm me with your address and I'll try to get over there next week.:) I'm so glad you told us about their need, I don't have children's clothes but this way I can help. |
I am more than willing to send you a Wal-Mart gift card. Just give me pm me your address and I will send one right over. :) |
Gift card or paypal works for me. What would your rather? I'll be going to Walmart tomorrow so either one works for me. |
Aerrica is going to be a busy little girl this evening pming her address ..... YT is a wonderful family. It just makes my heart glow knowing that I am associated with such giving people. |
I am trying to get everyone PM'd. I'm posting from my phone and for some reason I can't get the thingy to scroll to where I need it to in order to send a PM. Luckily I'll have PC access tomorrow so if I don't get you tonight I will then. I need to check with DH about paypal. We haven't used it in a while and I THINK our old bank account may still be linked with it instead of our new one so I need to check on that and then I'll give that address to those who want it. :) Thank you so much everyone! Ya'll have no idea how happy and excited these kids are going to be! |
Aerrica, I might mention if you didn't already know, you can sent one post to five people at once and that will help save you time:) This is wonderful and I agree with Cindy that YTers are the best and always willing to help a good cause like this:thumbup: |
I think this is soooo amazing that everyone is coming together for these kids!! I sent you a pm for your address btw. I just had an idea, since all of us spend sooo much money on our babies  (me included!), what if we were to "adopt a family" every so often? We could have a vote each time to choose a family to donate to...with their stories of course. Just a thought... |

When J and I were talking today I asked him what kind of clothes he would LIKE to wear to school and he said, "Aaaawh I ain't picky. You know how it is. You get what you get and don't pitch a fit." He says that about a lot of things. Even when I ask him what he'd like for lunch or snack or even to drink. Sometimes I'll tell him to come on and eat and he'll say, "Let the little ones eat and if there is any left I'll come on then." :( S was just thrilled because we made cupcakes today. We made special magical cupcakes made with special fairy sprinkles. (I bought the "funfetti" cake mix and icing for them) She made a wish on one of her sprinkles that when she grows up she can have a yorkie too - and be a dentist. LOL She really wants to be a dentist. I mean really really wants to be a dentist! LOL |

Please PM me your address so I can send some stuff your way! I don't have much money to spend either, but I'll do the best I can. |
You guys make my heart sing.... I tell you the kindness and generosity on here outweighs a lot of stupidity at times. Just wanted to say I really love yall. Such good hearts. A...please pm me. I am going check what my girls have and see what I can send there and also see if I can send you a few bucks via paypal so they can get some more stuff. I recently donated a ton of mens clothes to the salvation army that were in superb and almost new condition would have been great to send there. I will speak to some of hubby's guy friends that spend on clothes like money is water and see if they have stuff to spare. You know my heart hurts to know that there are such sweet little kids like that. Sounds like the big guy is a sweetie. Gotta go dry the tears now....It amazes me how much we take for granted sometimes. I need to show my kids this post. I grew up not poor not middle class either and I know how it sucks to not have all that cool stuff that other kids have. God bless you for helping them and god bless the rest of my YT family for always being ready to pitch in. |
Aerrica, he sounds like the sweetest boy. It's such a shame that people are mean to him - they could probably find a very good friend in him if they'd give him a chance. :( I can't find any old clothes. But I've got a pay check coming soon...and I could certainly spare a few bucks to send a giftcard. :) Quote:

I think your list is getting bigger and bigger! Maybe we need to get a sign up list going to make it easier to contact everyone? Also, if for any reason there is any money left over can it go to helping the parents with some bills or groceries? |
I would like to send a Gift Card too, if you could pm me your addy when your able to that would be great! :) Also I will send a little special for each of them with the gift card. Could you find out a favorite color for each of them for me please? :) I hope these kiddos are set for a while and will have a good start to this school year. Maybe with the better start they will have a more enjoyable year! :) |
Ok I gotta wipe my tears! Hold on a sec! Ok, now that's outta the way, pm me your address and I'll send a gift card too. Quote:

I would also like to help. Please pm me. do you want a Walmart Card or PayPal? |
This is so true and happens at so many schools Quote:
I think it is a shame that soda pop cost less then milk. So i wonder how many parents at least want to get some kind of sugar to their kids so would get the pop at a meal rather then the milk. I know that sounds funny sugar to kids but if they are thinking of giving them some energy who knows. |
Oh a little leftover cash to help the parents would be nice too, but the kids are my main concern (their's too I'm sure) These are not people who aren't willing to work and do everything they can to help themselves. You can read any post I've made about my DUG and see I have no patience for that. These are really good people who are working really hard and have just fallen on some VERY rough times. I know that they had to pawn the title to the car (the one that just broke down) to help cover last months rent. They love S and J and do the very best they can for them. They are really a great family. The mom is working as a CNA at the nursing home (she just started a few weeks ago, that's why I get to keep these great kids) and always has a smile and a positive attitude. J says his mom always tells him that everything will be fine. God is just building their faith right now. The dad is great too. He works really long and hard hours but from what I've seen always makes time for the kids. It isn't that they aren't trying and doing all they can do. I think they just fell into a hole and having a very hard time climbing out of it. |
