Anyone Here Quilt? 2 Attachment(s) I am working on my first quilt and am doing a simple 9 block style. I have to say I'm a little nervous about doing all the quilting at the end and working with the binding. Does anyone have any good tips? I did buy a book but it's a lot of information to get through and know what's important and what's not. I'm using the Amy Butler Midwest Modern fabric collection with a lot of large white squares, I really want it to be crisp and bright :). I love the way the quilt top is coming out but I way underestimated how much of the patterned fabric I needed so I have an order in for 5 more yards and am just waiting on it. For the backing do you all prefer to use a sheet in the size of the quilt or do you piece together the back? I'm a newbie at this so any info is sooo appreciated! Here are the pics of the quilt top so far :) |
You quilt is very pretty, you've done a great job so far! I've done some quilting before and do enjoy it. It's fun to get a group together for quilting. For the backing I get fabric from a local Fabricut outlet - they have drapery fabrics, in wide widths. |
1 Attachment(s) I am a quilter and I have taught beginning quilting classes. I would be happy to help you in any way I am able. I would recommend that you use one of the fabric in the front of your quilt for your backing as this offers the best continuity. Of course, the beauty about making a quilt is that you can do anything you like. :) I also would be able to help you with your batting and with the binding methods as well. If you desire, just send me a PM and I will gladly do that. Quilting is both fun and rewarding! :) Here is a picture of my first quilt (It's called a Rail Fence): |
Both of your quilts look beautiful!! I have been wanting to take a quilting class for years - bought a sewing machine, and have yet to do it  Yorkiegirl83, keep us posted - I would love to see the finished quilt! |
