Stupidity! and a warning.... Oh, I was just wanting to clean the microwave. I nuked some grillin' beans last night without a cover. You know what happened, right. All over the inside of the microwave! So...I placed a bowl of soapy water in there and boiled it to loosen the residue of the beans. What I did next was sheer idiocy! I attempted to place half of a papertowel in the water to drag over the bottom of the microwave. Yep. It exploded all over my hand.:eek: Icewater just wasn't enough. It is just now beginning to throb. I know there aren't many that are as stupid as I, but I just wanted to say....be careful of your microwave. It will bite the hand that feeds it! |
I had gotten a forwarded email a few months back about this. A man was trying to boil a cup of tea in the microwave and he pulled it out and looked in it to see if it was boiling, and it exploded in his face. I didn't think much of it, but thank you for making me remember it...so it won't happen to me! |
IM SORRY SWEETIE! I HATE MOMENTS LIKE THIS *WHY DID I DO THAT* HOPE IT FEELS BETTER SOON! |
I hope your hand feels better soon. I have definitely did my fair share of stupid things too. We live and learn right:) |
Ouch! I'm sure that was really painful and probably blistered. Its so hot from the microwave and then oh my to have that hit your skin. Hope you are getting better now. |
It hasn't blistered yet but I am sure it will. I had the nerve to be surprised. LOL I am just hoping my thumbnail doesn't come off because of this. It only got about half of it, but that would be enough to cause it to lift. Thank you all for your well wishes. I just hope posting this might keep anyone else from getting hurt in the same fashion. I don't particularly like telling about my stupid moments. ;) I really think that I should have known better. But a paper towel? I guess those molecules were just far too excited and that paper towel made them let loose! :D |
Oh noooo! Owww! Burns are the very worst type of pain too. I've heard that liquids could do that but I've never seen it happen so I would have done the same exact thing. |
Ouch! hope you feel better soon. |

It usually happens whe you add something to the water. I knew that, too. That's why I called my action stupid. The water does not appear to be 'boiling'...no little bubbles or anything. However, the molecules are very excited and as soon as something touches the water, it reacts violently and sets those little bugger OFF! I am actually very blessed in all of this. I will have blisters, but little ones and in sporadic places down the length of my thumb. All of it hurts but that will go away soon enough except for the blistered part. I am thankful. Very thankful. |
