please help me... IDK what to do :( This is about my 9 1/2 year old female cat Tigerlilly. She has had what we believe are seizures lately in the past 2 weeks we have only witnessed two. She is my baby, i have had her since i was 10 and now she has moved out with me into my own apartment. Anywho, as you can see i REALLY REALLY REALLY love her more than words can describe, so i would like anyone opinion on what this could be This is what happens... First time- I missed it, my boyfriend saw it while i was at work. He thought it may have been a stroke but it only lasted a minute. Second time- I was in the kitched with Buff (yorkie) and Tigerlilly, all of a sudden she meows and falls... her back legs collapse like she loses control and she cant walk. her eyes dialate and her tail gets stiff, she looks from me to my boyfriend and i try and calm her and she is purring loud. It only lasted a minute and then she was fine, she went and layed down. Third time-Today (10 min ago)- She was on the couch by herself, Buff was playing on the floor and i was at the computer. All of a sudden she FALLS off the couch with a big thud and i look and she is rolling around and around, clearly not having any control. She looked terrified and scared, i ran over to her to calm her, she had her claws out, her tail was stiff and her eyes were dialated. I managed to stop her on her back and her paws were straight up, no purring this time. She really looked scared, that look cut me deep and i felt horrible. Any ideas????????? Please give me some idea. I have told the vet and he says he has no idea what it could be without seeing a film of it, there was no way i was going to stop while it was happening to turn on my webcam. Today really scared me too, now she is laying down. |

They could be seizures. Your best bet would be for one of you force yourself to take pictures and get them to your vet. Or take her in for observation. These seem to be pretty frequent. My friend has a little mexican dog (Chiuawa however it is spelled) and she has seizures. They sound about the same. It scares you to death while they are going on... but they don't last long. They just hold her until it is over.. and then let her rest. Otherwise she is healthy. She is on meds.. but I don't know what it is. Good luck sweetie. Keep us posted. |
I'm so sorry about your cat :( That has to be so scary to watch. It does sound like seizures. You might look into taking her to a neurologist. It may be something that can be controlled with medication. |
Most certainly would take her in for evaluation. Poor baby. Especially that she was soooo scared, you need to do her a favor and find out what's going on. Hopefully meds will be the answer. Could "google" and find some info. I know you are scared but it doesn't do any good not knowing. Take her in. Hugs. |
aww I am so sorry your Tigerlilly is experiencing this :( My kitty Mittens lived to be a wonderful 18 yrs old and was my 1st baby so to speak. I got him when I was 9 :) It is so hard to watch them get older and start doing things you don't know how to handle. :( I agree that I would take Tigerlilly to the vet. Maybe they could keep her for a 24-48 hour observation so they could witness what you have been. I would make sure my cell was in my pocket or readily available to get a video clip of her doing this and take it to the vet. Hopefully medication can help your kitty and you guys can have many of wonderful years left together :) |
I've never had a kitty, but it does sound like something she should see a neurologist. I'm sure she would be put on the anti-seizure medication. I'm so sorry your both going thru this terrible thing. I do hope you find the solution really soon. Hugs to you and your baby. |
So how how is Tigerlilly doing today? |
