I realy need some YT prayers!!
 

Hey everyone. I was wondering if you could pray for my family for the next few weeks. I'd gotten the worst news this week and it just keeps coming. I don't know what to do, I just wanna find a little closet to cry in and wake up when the nightmare is over.

I found out on the 4th that my great grandma had a heart attack. She's 92 years old and very frail. She can't live on her own anymore. My uncle's mom comes for during the day to help her around the house and cook for here. For the past few years, we'd go up and set up her Christmas tree and decorations and she would say how this would probably her last Christmas tree. But, the last 3 months, she's really given up. She doesn't eat anymore, she doesn't bother getting out of bed, and just wants to be left alone. Her muscles started deteriorating and she got so thin, she was always a small lady but, she's well under 100 lbs now. Anyway, when she has her heart attack, there was nothing the doctors could do, her heart is now working at 10%. My dad went up on Sunday to see her and she was out of it. She thought he brought her down the shore and left her there. He tried explaining to her that she was in hospital but she yelled at him for lying to her. She didn't even recognize my mom. My mom called me yesterday and said her kidneys are failing and they have to put her on dialysis. She doesn't want to though. She signed a DNR and just wants to go home and die in her bed.

To make the situation worse, my grandfather needs surgery too. His health hasn't been the best for years now. He's had numerous surgeries, heart attacks, a stroke, and continues to smoke all the time. He lives half the year here and the other half in Brazil. About 2 years ago he had a surgery in Brazil for something in his stomach and he never healed correctly. For the longest time he had a hole in his side because the tissue was infected and damaged. He finally closed but, the infection never cleared. When he came back from Brazil about a month ago and the doctors said his infection is really bad. He was suppose to have surgery last week but he didn't pass the tests. Well it's scheduled for the 23rd and the doctors said he doesn't have a good chance. They have to cut him across his stomach and up his chest and his health isn't great. I don't know all the details because he won't talk to anymore about it. The only reason we know is because my uncle's mom goes and helps interpret if he doesn't understand what the doctor is saying.

I'm sorry for going on and on but I'm just so upset right now. I fell so helpless too because I'm in Florida all by myself and can't leave to go home till Friday. My mom also doesn't tell me the full story. She'll only tell me small pieces until it gets bad and she has to let me know. I know she's doing it because I get really emotional and she doesn't want me so upset when I'm down here with no family but, it makes me mad when she tells me things and I find out she's known for a while. My boyfriend is going to drive up with me on Friday so my mom or dad don't have to worry about coming down. I just wanna lave now and go though.

Oh Sweetie .... I am so sorry that you are having to go through all this so far away from your family. I will keep your family in my prayers and I hope your grandmother and grandfather improve. Hugs and prayers for you from KS. I know how difficult it is to be so far away from family. I live 900 miles from mine. When things go wrong it seems more like a million. Take care, little one.

That'a alot for anyone to have to deal with all at once. Hugs and prayers for you and your family are on their way. From experience, when someone is ready to go, they should be allowed to go with their dignity as intact as possible.

Thanks. Yea, I know letting her go home is the right thing to do but, I can't help being selfish and wanting her to hold on. As of today the doctor wouldn't let her go home. I don't know if will tomorrow.

I am so sorry that you are feeling down. Its alot to go thru.
Please tell your mom to consider asking the doctor for a Hospice referral.
They will help you family with taking your ggm home and keeping her comfortable. They often have volunteers to sit with the patients or run errands for the family or if the family has to leave for a while.
They can help manage pain control if needed and most of all they give huge emotional support to the family.
Be strong for your parents. Its hard to let our loved ones go but remember she lived a long life.

I am so sorry hon...sometimes life sure can get turned upside down. Sending you tons of prayers and hoping that the situation gets better. I have been there honey and it all seems so dark...things will get better.

Thanks for your advice Lisa, I appreciate it! I'm gonna talk to my mom tomorrow and see what the doctors said today. I'll see what they are planning on doing and talking about a hospice.

Aww sweetie I'm sorry, sounds like you got hit with the big ugly stick all at once. Funny thing about the elderly, they just know. Sounds like she's made peace with it and herself. Just know that she is going to be okay.

Thanks for all your kind words and prayers! It really does make me feel better! I'm glad I have YT to come to and get my mind away from things for a while. I spent some time last night looking at pictures of your cute babies and watching videos. Yt is such a great place!
