space bags Are space bags worth the money? Our house burned down and I would like to store my winter clothes in them in our garage until our house is rebuilt. It will be a big investment since I will need a lot of them. My garage is smelly and buggy. I trust your yorkie talk opinion. Thanks. |
I bought some after reading some positive reviews but they were such a waste of money. It was impossible to keep the lock-thing closed and it would always pop open and the bag/clothes would "inflate" back up. |
Yes I love them they are a real space saver. I put winter coats in them and store them over the summer. I plan on getting more to use for summer and winter clothes storage |
I got the ones where you had to push the air out of them. They were difficult to use and once you reopened them, it was harder to close them again. |
I love mine- they work perfectly. I store my winter duvets and extra pillows in them. I don't know how I lived without them. |

I've had it go both ways ....love then and then some dont work. Nicki +2, I bet you are right that some may be defective. I currently store our sunroom spare couch/bed comforter/pillows and it is doing great. I think the suggestion by spr377 is excellent....I would try that first using the heavy duty lawn bags.....that would be a much cheaper option. I will try that myself...thanks!:) I am so sorry about your house. Good luck with storing the items. |
I don't know anything about the space bags, but I do know about house fires. I would like to offer my deepest and most sincere condolences to you. I hope that you were able to "rescue" your keepsakes from the fire AND that everyone got out safely. Good luck building your new home. Our minor porch fire wound up taking over three months to repair and life was a termoil during that time. Over $40,000 worth of damage. |
Sorry to hear about the fire. I missed reading that in your post. Ziploc make giant bags for clothes. I have seen them in the supermarket. Maybe they are cheaper than the space bags. |

I love the rubbermaid containers...I use those for everything...but I normally take trash bags and get all the air out of them..then put them in the rubbermaid (or any plastic tub w/ tightly sealed lids)..that way, I can get more in them! |

I do not recommend getting the biggest bags they have. Since you mentioned your garage, I assume you will be using that as storage room. Go ahead and buy rubbermade totes that the bags will fit in. Yes, I know you are trying to cut down on space, but it does help. Compare 5 or more totes without bags to 2 or so with and they also stack nicer! You can stack 2-3 bags in a tote depending on which size you get. Also, someone mentioned on here about the bags opening. As long as you don't overstuff them (there is a line marked on them that shows where to stop) or move them around a whole lot you should be fine. Sorry I've gone on and on, but like I've said, I've got experience with them! Hope you had a great 4th!! |
