Atkins diet? Has anyone here done it? How much weight did you lose? I know its not the healthiest diet out there. I know that counting calories and exericising is the BEST way to loose weight. But I need to drop weight pretty quickly for a wedding and I thought the Atkins diet might work, then once I drop the weight I'll go off of it and onto a healthier way of eating. Any suggestions on good foods to eat while on the diet? I ordered a book, but it won't be here for a few more days and i'd like to start on Monday. |
I do atkins/low carb and have for a long time now, maybe two years. If you want to lose weight really fast do the induction diet until the wedding. Eggs, meat, cheese, green veggies/salads. |
mmmh I want to lose 10 lbs...can you give me the info on the induction diet...I would appreciate it. I know my brother did it a while ago and he lost a lot of weight. |

All I did was follow their plan and we walked 5 miles everyday but I know that isn't possible for everyone. I did the same thing regarding their plan...I used it to lose the weight and then went to my own maintenance way of eating. |
If you are interested in Atkins, you may want to consider South Beach. I have not done either (I do ww. points) but have read up on them both. South Beach is healthier then Atkins. You watch your carbs as you do with Atkins but you stick with more healthier eating - such as maybe Canadian Bacon instead of the real fatty bacon (or) maybe chicken instead of sirloin steak. I would think (Just think now) that if you are eating lighter and not eating all the fat that Atkins allows that S. Beach would help you shed the pounds faster then Atkins. Good Luck. Elaine |

I agree with you it is not the healthist diet.:rolleyes: I just cant believe intentionally throwing your body in ketosis can be good for you. Remember atkins fell over on city sidewalk dead of a heart attacK! all you will be eatting is high cholesterol foods. just be careful pweease! |
Im not sure about the Atkins, but I would stick to eating lean meats, tons of veggies...especially the greener ones, and fruit..but not too much because its high in sugar. If you do that and exercise..even if its just walking, I don't think you'll have a problem taking the weight off. Good luck :) |
Yeah wasn't that ironic the man was pushing that diet and he was actually over weight and died of a heart attack. The atkins doesn't really appeal that much to me becuase of the great quantity of meats...I am not the biggest meat eater. Never have been. I need to get my butt back on the bike and the work out machine in the basement as well. |
