I need some decorating tips We are moving mid next month and I'm not exactly sure how I want to do my son's room. He has a bunch of Disney Cars items and has a Little Tykes racecar bed (blue). I have a color picked out, it's like a sand color. I think blue would be a little much. His room is really big so wallpaper/border would get a little pricey. I would really like to stencil something on his wall, but I'm not sure what. I thought about checkered race flags and then a saying. What do you guys think? I'm also having a bit of trouble with his playroom. I have some neat jungle prints and I have a large Lion King snowglobe I would like to display, so I would like to keep it a jungle like theme. Any ideas? |
Why don't you do one wall blue? One of the little girls I sit for has 3 of her walls painted a cream color, and one wall painted a violet color. It gives color to the room w/o it being overwhelming. I've seen several rooms done like this and it always looks good. Have you thought about maybe putting one of those wallmurals up? Another family I work for has a parrot one in the little girls room and it looks cool. How old is your baby? My tip is not to create a playroom, unless your children are older. You will be tempted to buy all those huge plastic toys and castles that you see at yard sales. :D Your baby wants to be in the same room as you, and I found that having a toy basket in the family room was enough. With decorating, paint is by far the cheapest and most effective way to go. Since you already have a racecar bed, I would look for shelving that could be decorative as well as functional. I agree with Sladesmomy painting one wall an accent color can be effective. Red might make a nice accent wall, with the blue racecar bed as focus, and I like the checked flags idea. |
We painted our baby's room with one wall being the accent. We went with a tan/sand color on three and then a green on the fourth to match the crib set we got. Menards did a great job and matching up the green. It adds a little something to the room. I like the checkered flag idea. |
