my grandson joining the military
 
My grandson did his testing for the military yesterday and was going to join regular force.. and be a soldier..!!!!! but was offered any officer training he wants to choose.. so we were all very excited for him.. now he is into the computer looking to see what he would like to do..
We are all military but was surprised at his wanting to join... now we are so excited for him..

Well do you know when he will be leaving? I hope he really enjoys it. My son joined and left a week after graduation and he is in Iraq now. My hubby was there last year as well but he is home now. It was harder this time having 2 of them over there. I hope my son is home sometime in Sept. He is active and my hubby is reservist. Guess if your family is all in military you know what to expect. I'm glad you are excited about this. Good Luck to him.

Thanks.. but the hard thing is the knowing what it is all about.. but if he goes officer he will have to go to university and they would pay for it.. so could be like three years from now.. but our daughter and his mom and dad were both military.. our daughter got hurt and is out now.. so she is really helping him decide along with my hubby.. (poppy) so poppy had to go to the doctor three hours from us.. and daughter and grandson had lunch and he had just finished his testing and was super happy.. he is 19 in november.. we have had a nephew over in iraq twice now.. need to pray for our soldiers every day...anne

I will keep your grandson and your entire family in my thoughts and prayers. I bet you are really proud of this fine young man who is willing to give up so much to serve his country. And yet, I know a part of you has some very valid fears for his safety.

Oh yes Cindy we sure are concerned with the way the world is today.. but he has to decide his future, not us... thanks

How both exciting and fearful you must be. My grandson just finished 6 years (reservist) in the Marines, did 1 tour of duty in Iraq. He was also offered the officer training at Cherry Point, NC but after basic at Parris Island and combat training at Camp Lejeune, he spent 3 days at CP and said no thanks. He said it was like Parris Island all over again and he had had enough of that for a while. If your grandson can take the pressure, then it would be to his advantage to go to Officer training. Unlike basic, they have the right to back out if they want to. I'm so proud of all our Military. God bless them and where would we be without them?

Congratulations to your Grandson! You must be very proud of him! My son is serving in the Marines and is in Iraq right now. Hopefully he'll be home by 1st week of October. He's actually seriously considering re-enlisting but only if he gets his old MOS of Security Force and can serve here in Washington State at Banger again (which is were he was his 2nd & 3rd year). I guess they're really trying to grow the Marines so they'll most likely agree to it. Please give your grandson a big THANK YOU from me. It's a very honorable thing he's doing and I appreciate it so very much!:)

Thanks to each and every one of you who posted their congrats to my grandon... coming from military we are more aware of the downfalls.. and this is all so wonderful for him.. puts a feather in his cap.. our too I guess.. but also such a worry..
