This email did have the correct last 4 of my card though but it doesn't expire for a couple of years (when I signed up for paypal though maybe i had old expiration date). What do you guys think??? When the letter started did it say Dear Paypal cutsomer? or Dear (your name) if it does NOT have your name and your account number in the email, it is a scam and you should report it to paypal. I had this happen and i called them to ask and that is what they told me. |
it is a scam. I got one exactly the same last week. I do have a PayPal credit card but my paypal stuff is under a different email than the one it came to but I contacted PayPal per phone and they told me it is a scam. |
Actually, I have to take that back. mine wasn't quite like yours. I DO have a PayPal Plus Credit Card. My email said it would expire in May unless i updated my info. I called PayPal and they said this is a scam. My card doesn't expire until next year. |
When I get these types of email, I forward them to paypal...spoof@paypal.com and they will check it over and let you know if it is real or not. |
Thanks for this warning. Saved the e-mail address to report a scam. Thanks. |
I finally cancled my paypal account after getting these all the time. Be careful! |
It's a SCAM! call Paypal and let them know, Do not reply to those emails. |
forward it to paypal through their spoof address and they will tell you if it is legit or not |
A good rule of thumb is that these emails don't usually ask you to click a link to get to their site to do anything. For any email I get that is linked to a bank account or paypal or anything important I launch my browser and go to the site manually and log in to do whatever I have to do. I never click the links in the emails. These fishing emails are getting better every year and its very hard to tell the difference anymore. What makes it worse is that even the legit links are sometimes so cryptic. |
