Worried.... OK sorry this is so long. My brother's best friend got a cairn terrier puppy the other day. I went over to see him and they asked if I'd help with training and I said yes. I asked them where they got him and they said Shake A Paw. :thumbdown I didn't say that their dog was from a puppy mill, yet. Their grandpa just died and i really didn't want to make them more upset. :( they know what happened to bandit, and i'm worried that they'll freak out and think the same thing is going to happen to Henry, the dog. I will tell them, probably today. I am very worried that what happened to bandit will happen to their's. I don't know if cairn terriers are supposed to have a wiry coat, but this one did. I was also watching him and he didn't really play. He just kind of laid down, wasn't hyper or anything. He was baiscally the same way bandit was. I did tell them about puppy mills and they thought it was terrible. I also told them about millbusters.com. I gave them a harrness we had for tucker that was too big and it fit henry perfectly. :) (they had a collar on that was waaay too big) I'm going to tell them to take him for blood work right away. Sorry this is so long, I'm just really worried. OK i just had to vent. thanks for listening. |
awwwwwww Megan ur so sweet and so responsible for informing them. good luck with training :) im sure u'll do a great jog  hugs |
3 Attachment(s) I know you are worried and you have a genuine concern for them but maybe you should just wait and see. If their grandpa just died, this puppy might be lifting their spirits and you don't want to burst their bubble and get them to worry. If the puppy continues to look ill, then I would recommend telling them. Here are pictures of cairn terriers. Their coats are supposed to be "weatherproof" which to me sounds a bit wiry. |

i had a cairn terrier and yes their coats are supposed to be wirey........ one of the reasons i like yorkies so much better is their softer coat...... anyways, good luck |

the puppy is still in a new enviroment...e might still be weary of the new house and miss his mom and littermates |
I'm sorry about Bandit. Hopefully the cairn terrier will be okay. |
We can try to think positive and hope he's adjusting to his new home - he's been in a cage his whole life and could be a little overwhelmed...at least I hope that's all it is...You're a good friend Megan. |
Memphis has a super wirey coat because of the cairn terrier in him. If I use conditioner on him it softens it a bit. I have heard that some cairns are really mellow pups. Memphis was a really mellow pup but he is a mix. Hard to say right now. Give the pup a little time to totally adjust. :) :) |
