HardWood Flooring Question??? which is the best kind of hardwood floor? I want to put some in are new home and a lady told me that the laminated hardwood where bad and that all it dose is pill... So my question is.. dose any one have laminated floors?? and have you had trouble with it having furbabys and all? If not what kind of hardwood floors do you have? and have you had any problem with it? |
I have pergo floors in my living room. Im not in love with them. My dogs sometimes pee on them and you can see they are starting to bubble at the seams. I mean I wish my dogs would 100% stop peeing in the house, but that hasn't happened and the pergo cannot handle it. I dont know if thats laminated, but if it is then Id say dont do it if your dogs are not 100% housebroken! |
I have wilson art laminated flooring both at home and work, at home I have had it for about a year and a half and no problem. At work it has been in since May 2004, and we are a retail store with alot of traffic and once again no problem. I was told the Wilson Art is commercial grade. |
We have Engineered hardwoods that are actually 3 or 4 layers of hardwood with the grain running in opposit directions rather than solid hardwood. It's supposed to be more stable and more resistant to water than solid. They're usually prefinished, ours is the wide plank hand scrolled finished in a dark stain and LOVE them! The PRO's I've heard re: floors such as Pergo are they don't scratch at all which is great and very durable but I've heard you have to be more careful with them with regards to water. True hardwoods will scratch but you don't have to worry about water as much. I would not put hard woods or Pergo for that matter in an entryway if you live in a place like me that gets a lot of rain. We're pulling our old solid hardwood out (Birch with clear finish) of our entry/hallway and putting in slate tile because they're just trashed with everyone walking in with wet shoes. Our newer hardwoods are in our kitchen/family room and we inset the slate tile in front of the sliding glass door leading to the backyard. With a Yorkie you won't have to worry about scratching because they're so little they really don't cause any damage, now my Lab, that's another story. I don't care though, I expect they'll get scratches and I figure it's just part of living and show's character. If you don't have "potty" issues Pergo type floors are great though too. Hopefully this gives you a little to think about.:) |
