Had a rude awakening at 2:30 am.......... ........to the tornado sirens going off, crazy winds and lots of rain. I got up and turned on the TV and saw that we were in a tornado warning , then BOOM, the power went off. Luckily it was only for a minute or so. Woke hubby, then we and the furbabies went downstairs. Listening to the news, it sounds like there was a tornado sighted about 4-5 miles from where we live  & when we went back up to bed, we took a look outside to find a VERY large branch from a tree in our frontyard broken loose from the tree, but still leaning on the trunk of it hanging over our driveway. There are numerous branches of different sizes in our backyard (I think for the same front yard tree), patio chair blown over, and even our gas grill was moved by the wind. IT IS AMAZING WHAT MOTHER NATURE CAN DO! |
It IS truly amazing what mother nature is capable of.. but personally, I have no desire to see it up close! That's the kind of thing that truly scares me because no one can control it or truly predict what it will do! You must have been so freaked out! |
I am so glad you guys are okay! Wow! |
OMG that would scare the crap out of me! So glad you didn't get hit by the tornado! |
geez....I would have been scared to death. Im glad your ok and had no major damage. |

I've also always thought it would be an awesome site to actually SEE a tornado "live", but ONLY if it was going in the opposite direction from me! |
So glad it missed you. I hate cleaning up after a storm. But the good news is you power is on...unless you have a laptob with a good battery! |
i am glad you guys are okay. That had to have been scary. You ought to see my scrambling around trying to round up my babies to take to the basement when we hear sirens. we have to go outside, then into the basement. |
We took to our basement one evening last week. Sirens were going off and the rain and wind was horrid! TOrnados touched down in a couple of places around us, but we were safe, thank you, Lord Jesus. It was a mess trying to get children and pets downstairs, each time a child would carry a pet down, one would come back up stairs to try and get out of the basement! LOL! Need to come up with a better plan, huh? |
I am so glad to hear that you all are okay! It had to be frightening to experience that! |
Glad everyone is okay! We don't have sirens here for anything, we just have to watch the news and hope to have time to get somewhere if something does hit. |
Being from Oklahoma, you kind of get used to hearing those sirens but I remember right before we moved to Yankme land....ahem..Pennsylvania, we were actually caught in the beginning of what became a few or more tornadoes that hit Moore and OKC area..(1998 for all my Okies). So...not long after we moved up here and I heard that siren...still a bit shaken from the storm..I kind of got scared (shhh!) and of course like a true Oklahoman, I stepped outside to see if I could see a wall cloud, funnel cloud, tornado, monster...nothing. Here, come to find out, they use the same siren for fires. |
I am so glad you are ok. Mother Nature can be so tricky. |
Glad you are okay! People think I am crazy for living in CA, with the earthquakes. But your ordeal sounds pretty scary to me! |

We got up and heard the news when my husband went for a paper this morning. Glad you are okay. My sister lived near the area that got hit but now lives in Iowa. I called her and told her she is lucky to have moved! |
Pics 2 Attachment(s) Okay, duh! Went outside and took a couple of pics of the tree limb that fell. The 2nd pic, if you look straight up the tree trunk, you should see a light brown/tan spot about 3/4 of the way up. That's where the limb fell from. The limb was hanging over the driveway. Hubby went out there and chopped off all that you see laying in the grass. It's still standing in the limbs. We need to find a chainsaw to get the rest cut up. |
Thank God you are OK Wow Rose I am Glad you all are ok. I am also glad that the branch just hit your Drive and not your house.. That I am sure was scary for you all. We just got wind and rain down here. |

You mentioned that when you would got one pet downstairs another would come up. That's what concerns me. I have decided to stick my furbabies all in one larger pet carrier. The senior girls may not like, but, hey, a few snarls won't hurt. |

That is soooo scary! IM glad you are ok! I think tornados are one of the scariest weather conditions and I couldn't imagine living somewhere that got them often!! |
we had about 4 warnings here last night and had damage also. it seems like one storm after another and they are all bad. |
Wow! How scary!! We've had a couple of tornado warnings in our region(Wash DC metro area),over the past few weeks which is quite unusual.....kind of freaky what's going on with mother nature these days!!! I'm glad you all are okay! |
